After that I think he will become very difficult to move him based on the rumored contract and what I believe his value as a player is.

I don't know if that's an assessment that can be now, though. I guess it depends on where you feel Iguodala is in his development. I think there's still room for growth, so I wouldn't project his contracts value in years 3-5 based on the player he is right now.

I give points to the guy solely for using the word "paroxysm".

I guess this raises the question of how willing the team is to pay the tax in a couple of years, because after year 2 Brand and Iguodala will be making well in excess if 30M, and I expect Thad to get big $'s by year 3.

I don't believe Thad has to get extended until the summer Evans, Dalembert and Green come off the books.

The latest from SF1976:

Quote
Last I heard about Iguodala..it was only a matter of time..he wants to be here..we want him to stay....they werent off by much in dollars...I think its 99 percent that he will stay here.

Quote
Actually...it may be a 5 year deal with Iguodala....instead of 6.....with a base salary first year of about 12 million....last i heard

Too much in my eyes...but whatever..they need him.

Quote
Ed hasnt talked to Andre Miller..he lays low during summer..a few text messages..thats it. But yes he wants to talk extension with him/his agent...we will see what happens. Nothing brewing there.

As for Iguodala...if he gets 8 percent increases each year off a 12 million base..thats 16.32 in final year of contract. Alot of money for a guy that cant shoot huh?

The 12M year salary sounds off.  I could see that for a flat rate, but not if the salary escalates from there.  For comparison, Okafor and Deng start at 10, Biendrins and Ellis at 9M,  12M is much higher than I would expect for the 1st year (unless it does not go up from there.)

Also, I guess SF1976 doesn't realize the raises could be more than 8% for a Bird's Rights RFA.

Just curious, but if it's been reported in a newspaper, is it really "the latest from SF1976"?

Any ideas on the big that Ed says he wants to sign?

My top three guesses: Elson, Dwayne Jones, David Harrison.

One thing I'll say about the two is that Milicic still actually has some time (only 23), and as of now he's a serviceable frontcourt player. He won't be an All-Star, so I guess a definite bust, but I could see him sticking in a team's rotation. Brown's 3 years older and just seems to get worse.

The weed and racing aren't character issues as much as clubbing it up after a loss in the playoffs, and I'm not even sure how heinous an act that is either. This scenario brings up a more pertinent question, IMO: is Thaddeus' ceiling/upside great enough to bank on him as the future cornerstone of the franchise, at the expense of Iguodala now?

The interview was some time in March as I recall.

Part of the problem with Lou as the future at PG is that Lou Williams doesn't think Lou Williams is a PG. He said in an interview this past year that his future is at shooting guard. I also don't think Stefanski sees him as a full-time PG either. Who knows? Maybe things will change.

Damn I have to read that again, i haven't read it since it first came out, i wonder if having those first edition issues today would be worth any money...sigh

My brother was a huge WM fan back in the day, which in turn got me interested. I feel like I've been hearing about a possible live action version for a decade.

Is there any possibility that when they trap defensively, they put Brand as the lone man back and have Sam come out on the trap? Just putting it out there based on Brands defensive skills and shotblocking ability.

I've never read the hellboy comics, but as a former comic book geek i enjoy most movies based on comic books, including bulletproof monks.

I'm looking forward to the Watchmen movie. Aside from the costumes on a couple of the characters, it looks phenomenal.

I'm curious to see if Ellis is really going to be tried at PG, or if that is just a lot of talk.

-Q: So Monta is definitely your point guard?

-NELSON: "Monta's at the point. I'd like to carry three point guards, so we're looking around for a back-up point."

Even if he can develop a decent outside shot, as mentioned above, I don't see a Redd/Korver/Allen/Rip-like release coming anytime soon.
If the expectation is that he has to have one of the premier strokes in the league to be a good SG, I think that's unrealistic and unfair. Those guys are the cream of the crop, but do a fraction of the other things Iguodala does.

However, you still left out the other fatal flaw in his current game (with this current roster) that is a problem - his handle.  It's simply no more then average/pedestrian at best in the halfcourt...now, a couple of years ago, with AI on one side, and Korver on the other side, there were open spots on the perimeter and lanes that an athletic guy with a sub-standard handle could still take advantage of.  But on this team, with other teams zoning us up and packing it in), I don't see those lanes being available, and his handle simply is not good enough to create something, IMO.  Do you agree or disagree with that?

I think Iguodala's lack of a handle in the half-court is overstated. And as the year progressed, I felt he actually improved in that facet of his game, cutting down on TOs, making better decisions with the ball, etc. I think his ability to move without the ball and find spacing, and the ability of Brand to pass out of the post, will bump his productivity in the half-court.
