12th man playing 5-10 minute stints as needed due to injuries here and there he can still be effective defensively.  On offense it is not just taht he can't score, he is so bad with the ball that you really don't want him touching it these days.

Too late, Philly Rocks, an oldie, but goodie from PhilaPhans grabed the last spot.

I really do miss Jem, where is he allowed to post these days?

As of now we still need one more team to fill out the league.

Yeah, but you are not the guy who is in "Balls Deep".  LOL, I love that team name whoever it is.

I think this year could go better than I expect, but then again I don't expect a lot.  I expect a slow start and a strong finish, hopefully with an active off-season and big jumps by the young guys.  A first round playoff spot is expected, a playoff win is not, but I think the team really is moving in the right direction, not necessarily on a smooth path though.

I don't want to open up a new thread for this, but I have two spots still open in the PhilaPhans league that I opened up over here last year too.  Anyone interested see the info below and sign up:

Quote
I have started our annual Philaphans fantasy B-ball league. Former participants were already invited and filled up some of the slots, but four team spots remain open. It doesn't sound like a lot of openings, but most of the regular posters that play each year are signed up already.

Because there are a limited number of openings left, sign up only if you really want to participate and won't drop your team out of disinterest two weeks into the season.

It is the usual Yahoo H2H league, 12 teams, 9 categories using A/T ratio instead of straight TO's this year. No more than 3 player acquisitions per week, although I may loosen that up only for the time period after the draft, but before the season starts. Everything else is the same as last time. Those were the two changes requested by the majority who played last year.

The draft is in two weeks on October 15 and you can draft live starting at 9:00 pm eastern time or set up the autodraft feature if you can't make it then.

Here is the sign up info for anyone intersted:

I can't say I hate the move.

Sadly, that is what I have said about nearly all of their moves this summer.  I hated a few of their non-moves.  A summer of inspiration this has not been.

I had a list of 7-8 teams I was considering, about 4 of them were grabbed imemdiately.  The Nets intrigue me with two very young high quality players in Lopez and Harris, one fairly valuable vet in Carter and some other young pieces who will either pick up their games a good bit this year or be trade bait to those GM's who love guys with potential that hasn't been reached yet.  Their financial picture is decent, but not great.

I saw them as a challenge, but one with some promise.  When I made the choice my two thoughts were the Nets and the Hawks of the available teams and I just went with one of them.

So far I see that tk has the Lakers, D-Bods has the T-Wolves and I am GM for the Nets.  Anyone else here pick a team yet, maybe under a screen name I don't recognize?

It looks like there are about 15 teams still needing GM's at this point.  This should be fun.

I think it is a keeper league.

BTW, I found this detailed description of how it works: http://paspn.net/default.asp?p=90&gmaction=38

Thanks, that helped somewhat, although I will still be shooting from the hip a bit. Re-doing the draft this year is going to be interesting.

If this is not a keeper league, and it doesn't sound like it, then there may be considerably more trading than in real life.  If the CBA rules on trading apply, they only apply to this year, so trading Elton Brand might not be as difficult if, unlike a real team, you don't have to worry about the escalating salaries he will be making in the last 3 years of his contract as he leaves his prime years behind.

Hell, under that scenario, even Sammy might be tradeable.   ;D

I'm in, but have no idea how the damn thing works, especially as far as picking a team goes.  Should be interesting though.

My hunch is ES knows this, but his credit card was taken away.

I think this is exactly the case.  Everyone is down on Stefanski, but I liked all of the moves he nade last summer, Kapono for Evans was a decent trade, Holiday was a steal in the draft and Snyder has clearly decided that they will spend money of the Flyers, but not the Sixers.  Everything this summer has clearly been financially restricted.

My two biggest complaints about ES are not trading Miller at the deadline (was probably told by the bosses that the team needed to make the playoffs) and not being able to grab an early second rounder for two years in a row.  Deandre Jordan as a developmental back-up C and Jodie Meeks as a shooter off the bench would have been very cheap, high upside alternatives that really filled the need for depth at those positions.

Sign Sessions then trade Lou, better talent and fit, no tax problems, Lou should have trade value at his salary.  It just makes too much freaking sense.  If Holiday develops, Sessions could either me moved later or become a better combo/third guard than Lou is.  It is just that simple.
