Exactly TED!

Actually, I wouldn't get bothered if YOU lectured me on child rearing.  There is something to be said about the THEORY of god and religion.  It's the "practice" that's so F'd up.  My kids are pretty good kids because they have a very strong moral foundation that comes from my wife and her beliefs.  When it's time to hit the REAL world, the world of adults, MY "teachings" will be invaluable.

Regarding that blowhard Cosby, I just can't stand hypocrites.  The Cosby booty calls are enough for me to tell him to STFU about morals.
WoW, I would never presume to lecture you on child rearing. You've got four, I've got one, and he's only 15 months. I've got a lot to learn.

And besides, I'm almost totally convinced that your online persona is a complete fabrication. I'll bet in real life you're a 6'5" 200 lb perimeter player with deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ and a strong belief in Conservative values . . . wait a minute! . . . unsubstantiated claims CAN be fun!!
Actually I'm pretty much the same in real life, the problem people have with me is that I can keep a strait face when I say alot of the things I say.  I'm kidding alot of times but people are never sure, it's almost impossible on here because I don't lay the sarcasm on very thick.

On the Poker note.  Entered two tourney's over the weekend because I was bounced out of the first one, $500 entery, in less than 45 minutes.  The second tourney was a $1K entry and I lasted to the third table before I quit.  At the third table I was actually upto $7100 bucks before I started playing bad because I was tired.  I had to forfeit my $1K entry to quit the tourney, which I was unaware of, so instead of going home with $2300 I went home with $1300 which was about an $800 net profit.  The third table was brutal early on because there were some very good players so I just pretty much let them take each other out unless I got a very good hand and it held up through the flop.

LOL @ Bill Cosby.

Mr. Cosby, give your kids from your affairs ONE SINGLE RED FLOCKING CENT in child support then you can try and lecture the rest of us about parental responsibility you POS SCUM!

What a hypocritical dipstick!
WoW, put down the hunk of gov't cheese you're gnawing on and respond to what Cosby actually said. Does it have merit?

Besides, we all know that all of his supposed illegitimate children (in a language you can understand: bastards) are not really his children. They are money-grubbing opportunists who have been shown to be unrelated to Cosby.

Actually, I don't know that for truth. I just wanted to see what it felt like to marry myself to a completely unsubstantiated statement . . . it's not all you make it out to be WoW.
Ted, Wow just wants the right thing to be done in this world, but then complains when somebody tried to get it done......and then goes off to gamble on the weekends...are you still in it Wow, or did you get bounced yet?
Child!

Don't lecture me about morals when you're busy banging women who aren't your wives then getting dragged into court for failure to provide child support.

Why don't you goto a Dubya Bush lecture about honesty and integrity as a public servant pendejo!
LMFAO!!

are you talking to me or Bill Cosby guey?  And no, i am not a cheater.

and you never told us if you lost or are still in it, pendejo.

saw ian michael black go head ot head with Norm mcdonald of all people, Norm schooled him - who would have thougt.  Ian held in though with some lucky hands (he had an autographed picture of david copperfield as his good luck charm and it became the running joke.)  If i had the diposable income i would have entered the tourney here in SA.

I've yet to be impressed by anyone's real life knowledge.

"Real life" is what you make it, WayOut.  It can be wonderful, terrible, uplifting, or terrifying.  It's up to each person to choose their own way.  From some of the stuff I've read, your "real life" experiences are things I don't want, and therefore, won't choose.  I'd rather believe in the good of people when it's possible - because there are things that are worse than being a fool.

I'll be the first to admit that I've lived a sheltered life - at first, due to my parents, and later on, due to my choices.  But it has been just as "real" as anyone else's.  Things that are trivial bumps and bruises to you may sometimes be critical injuries to me - but it works the other way, too.

I believe in a world that is considerably better than the one shown to me on the news.  I know it's out there.  I've lived in it.  Maybe it's my own little corner of the world, but I'm content there.

Wish I had the line from Babylon 5, by Lennier, spoken of Delenn's view of the world.  He realized he had a choice, and chose to live in a different world, while protecting the world he wanted to see - the one that Delenn saw.  I think it's a great view of "the real world."  We see what we want to see - be it triumph or tragedy.

I'll be the first to admit that I've lived a sheltered life - at first, due to my parents, and later on, due to my choices.

Some of what you say is true some is not.

I had very few choices early on in life because of economics, most notably education.  Believe it or not I was a pretty sharp kid but NOT book/memory smart.  In every subject, except for spelling, I usually tested in the top %5 percent but my poor grades didn't really help my cause.  I didn't have the option to do much other than accept the recommendations of my teachers.

Now compare that to my duaghter.  She's the exact same way as me in regards to school.  IMO very bright but not good at repetive tasks or memorizing tasks like spelling.  She's bored.  She could not get into the gifted program for three years because of her grades.  So I pushed and pushed to get her tested and moved into the gifted program.  It did not work for 4 long years.  Finally the HORRIBLE prospect of the local Jr. High School had me look into PRIVATE education.  An option not available to my parents.  Meanwhile behind the scenes I found some loop holes in the gifted program.  I had a shrink interview and test my daughters abilities and lo and behold she not only turns out to be gifted but HIGHLY gifted.  That opened up ALOT of alternatives for her middle school education funded by state dollars.  My parents being immigrants, illegal ones at that, would never even have thought of alternates to my standard education.

I grew up in a rough part of L.A.  No little leagues, community centers etc....  I also chose a different path BUT that did not keep me from getting jumped, robbed and picked on early on.  I had my core of friends but there was nothing we could do when we got into trouble with the local thugs unless we became thugs ourselve, which we ended up doing.

I've run the gaunlet:

been wrong end of drive by's and hold ups
pulled GTA's
gang banging
beaten up by a cop
BS degree in engineering
part of a council man's victory effort
running 5 million dollar projects all over the world
been the head of an engineering department
being a father
owning my own buisness
seen the exploitation of people all around the world
visited a camp site where you could buy children and do whatever you want to them
visited a city full of 12 year old male and femal prostitutes
had various unfriendly encounters with blacks, whites and hispanics (never had beef with asians but I do know of some asian thugs)

My experiences have jaded me quite a bit against people sitting on high horses, bigots, hand out parasites, blame my problems on some one else crowd, etc....

So there is something to be said about the CHOICES available to you and having true choice.

An impressive life's lessons resume, WOW, but I have to ask. Why are you impressed with my own real life's knowledge, as it does not compare to your own?

I am a big, white guy. I cannot say I fully understand the merits of Cosby attacking young, black kids or their parents, though I do agree with him that properly spoken language will keep you inside the business world doors once the civil rights movement goes and opens them for you. Ebonics and those who espouse its use basically are encouraging black kids to stay out of the mainstream for American success.

But beyond that, White America cannot respond to what Cosby is telling his Black fellow Americans. The issues he brings up are strictly within his own community and I am just in awe of ANY black person actually speaking up, knowing he would get skewered by other Black people still in denial to what he is saying.

I hope more people will listen to his wisdom on the subject and not dismiss him because he was in court over child support regarding a women who turned out to be one of those people he is talking about - in this case, someone who tried to extort money from a celebrity over false claims to be related to him.
"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty.....We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason.....We are not descended from fearful men, not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were for the moment unpopular....We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home."

You know what's funny, WOW, you talk about wanting to get into a room to "debate" the issues -- and then all you do is rant, curse and call people names.  I seriously doubt your ability to truly DEBATE issues rather than just rant about them.

I have seen two or three different people present information that clearly shows your posts as misinformed and untrue and you simply skate past all those issues and continue to espouse yourself as intelligent.  As soon as you begin to debate the issues as presented to you rather than just call names and curse, I don't see a lot of point in even discussing issues with you.

Want another great philosophy:
People who consider themselves "intelligent" have much to learn -- people who don't, actually are in the process of learning.

Because, with the exception of the Kings, you're able to realisticly/logically see both sides of an argument.

I respect that someone can detach themselves from THEIR side of an argument, which is why I have a growing respect for Ted.

How about you make some points or point out the one's I've "skated" around and tried to drown out with rudeness?

I don't think I've proven to any more intelligent than anyone else on this board, at the same time some of your bigoted comments have shown me that you're a notch below the rest in "experience".  Having a core group of friends that are all of the same demographics and thinking that's the proof in the pudding is just as flawed a conclusion as yours about the small sample of minority demographics you've made blanket statements about.

The reason I say I would like to get you guys in a room is because nobody here would think to argue "Shaq is good just because he's big".  I'm sure that's the level of intelligence across the board and not just basketball.  I would truely enjoy debating with intelligent people about subjects other than sports, family and money since that's all that seems to matter when you're just trying to get by.  I would probably esclude Ted from joining us because he just types alot and it makes him seem smarter and I bet he would philabuster any debate.
