It would be a good move for the Raiders to come back to LA because it would invigorate their fan base here to support in large numbers for the first few seasons. Since it even sounds like a remotely good move they will not do it. It's the Raiders.
Hee, hee, hee!!!
I have been a Raiders' fan since the early 70's, so have seen them go from an elite NFL team to....well....how to put this.....the most embarassing pro team in history.
You might show support for the first year...even the second, But by the third year, if you are not plotting the death of Al Davis as you try to fall asleep on any given Sunday night during the fall, you are not one of us.
I don't think you quite realize how big the Raider Nation is here in LA. VERY feverish when it comes to the team. I mean we even have Raiders theme marketing campaigns out here for Coors even though the team is 500+ miles away. I think that die hard Raider fans would be so happy to be able to see the team that they would support for years and years regardless. While at the same time plotting to kill Al Davis lol
I used to be Raiders fan, thinking that they were the AFC version of the Eagles. The fans appear similar, blue collar and fanatical. Just win baby....
But the Raiders blow chunks now, and have for more than just a few seasons.
Studies have shown that once the jobs for stadium construction are gone, having it there is revenue neutral. Angelino's find other ways to entertain themselves and the team would siphon money away from elsewhere.
Jobs that simply move money around, without actually creating wealth are not good investments and should not be funded by taxpayer dollars. Like Casino's.
After the construction jobs they will need people to clean, sit at concession stands, provide security, provide maintenance, run lights and the jumbotron, run the clock, etc etc etc so I don't know how that wouldn't benefit locales in the area. The stadium doesn't get built and just run itself. There are plenty of jobs it will create.
And again, I think I've said this many times before, but there is no tax payer money going into this stadium. The developer is taking the brunt of the financial burden. No funds have been set aside for them. The only thing the state government has done is allowed them to side step an environmental hold up.
