Raw or not speights seems to be the most talented low post player the sixers have had in a while (before the signing of elton brand)

Speights looks like he knows what he's going to do before he catches the ball.  Great instincts for a youngster.

Nice game by Smith, but he would never get this many open looks.

I don't know.  As the 5th option on the floor this season, I think Smith might get a lot of open jumpers.

Same thing with Speight- with his great hands and ability to finish imagine all of the great looks he should get from Miller, Iguodala, Lou and Brand.  Given Minutes I think he could shine.

Any takers for Evans?

If Speights can give us QUALITY minutes backing up Sammy...this year...

What a bonus.

He keeps playing like this, he's gonna get minutes this season.  GREAT form on his jumper for a young big.  Rarely turns it over.  Nice hands.  Legit NBA body....no tweener here.

This has been the best summer to be a Sixers fan in a long time....

No question.  I was happy when we got Speights.  Off the charts with brand.  Now we just have to see if Ed can reasonably sign the RFA's (fortunately no real competition anymore) and then pull some magic out of his hat by getting a shooter(maybe for Evans?)

We have the Wiz tonight.  It'll be interesting to see Speights go up against Blatche and McGee.  Who ordered a nightmare?

Well that turned out pretty well.  Speights is way mroe ready than advertised.  can't wait for the regular season.

Smith had a great bounce back game too.  At least we have one jump shooter on the team.

Speights is the real deal, fellas.

TGP ? I love you brother..... you're the heart and soul here..... but Darrell Arthur 00 is no Marreesse Speights, my friend.

Join the train everybody.  He's going to be special.

A couple possessions in the 4th (may have been back to back possessions), Speights was calling for the ball on the low block and went to work on Blatche ( a legit NBA player) without hesitation.... and succeeded both times.  I love the confidence this kid has.  He could be a tough cover in the NBA when all is said and done.

The Hornets just signed James Posey, but still need big man depth.  Trade Reggie for Mo Pete?  The contracts work in terms of both salary and length, Peterson is basically a 15-18 mpg shooter at this point in his career and is older (31) than Reggie.  Mo is a career 0.374 shooter from 3, with very consistent percentages (34-39% per year range for his career) from year to year.  He doesn't give you much else, but would seem to be a fit here.  Sign a vet big man for the minimum as the 5th big to replace Reggie.  Thoughts?

Interesting idea.  I'm luke warm on Mo Pete, but for Evans it makes sense.

Speights averaging 19 and 10 through his first 4 games and shooting 57%

tk:

I don't know if I am ready to get rid of Evans just yet...obviously, if we could move him for a swingman who can shoot (Mo Pete is a decent idea, Skates...or maybe Nachbar) that would be great, but I'm not unhappy that he'll be here this year...schoolin' Speights in practice and showing him the ropes...putting him back into a better role in the rotation - that 15-20 minute a game PITA off of the bench...

Perhaps next summer we can figure out a way to move him, but for now I am fine with having him on the team.

I'm SO ready to get rid of evans, i was ready to get rid of him last year, when he was starting :)

Dudes a bench player, a 10-15 MPG guy in my opinion and the sixers are currently overhwlmed at PF
