Game Thread- Summer league- Game 5; 7/17 8PM Webcast

The most imprortant game of the century!  M. Speights first game as a Sixer- well sorta.

Sixers v. some other teams bunch of scrubs
L.V. 4PM EST
http://www.nba.com/summerleague2008/vsl_tvschedule08.html

Players to watch:
Speights, Smith, 2Young1
and that scoring guard guy (Jordan?)

What not to watch- defense, execution, fundamental play, lots of guys who can't even play at this level.

What will be missed:  Lou Williams and Louis Amundason, and to a lesser extent Carney playing like gods.

MSG network televises knick summr league games...comcast (the OWNER of the sixers) can't send some guys out to cover the sixers summer league?  Consider it auditions.

I believe it is Jamont Gordon (J Gordon, you were close).  Funny thing about him is most pre-draft reports said shooting was his weakness, more of a scorer than shooter.  Not a likely help with our shooting deficiencies.

I'm intrigued by his reported ability to defend both guard spots, and rebound. I think if he shows he can D and doesn't turn the ball over, Cheeks loves him and he sticks. Otherwise, he's Olu Famutimi.

If I recall, don't the web casts lack any sort of play by play?

I heard a rumor McLellan or whatever has been told if he plays solid D he'll make the team. Evidently they really like him. This comes from Chris Ford via like 3 other people

IIRC, SF1976 on RealGM also mentioned McClellan as a defensive specialist the team hopes to have on the roster this fall.  Not much about him anywhere on the net, must be a DiLeo special.

I'm assuming Thad hit that first basket, as far as I know he's the only lefty.
