I don't think it's sound strategy to start Dalembert and Speights together- too much of a problem for the 2nd team.
If you don't start Evans, then who else do you have besides Theo and Marshall?
I love Thad Young as a player, but he is not a power forward.
I hate small ball. I believe in rebounding and shot-blocking and defense in the lane. I want both the first and second teams to have enough size to be as big or bigger than our opponents.
Right now Dalmbert is still a better defender and shot-blocker than Speights, but Mareese is a better scorer and is more active.
The Sixers can still be a 50 game team this season, if they can develop Speights into a low-post scorer. They brought in Elton Brand to be that guy, but Brand is a mid-post player, not a back to the basket guy. The Sixers needed a big post-up player more than anything else to bolster their half-court offense and Speights is it.
Dileo should use these games without Brand to develop Speights especially when the game slows down. If he can get to the point where other teams feel obliged to double him, the Sixers should be a 50 win team.
But you can't tell that against the Wizards, 'cause they're a bad team now.
