Lottery Results: 2008-2009
« on: October 08, 2008, 05:53:41 PM »
Using this random number generator:
http://www.randomnumbergenerator.com/default.asp

Each bracket (championship bracket and consolation bracket) is split up, and each person is given a # between 1 and 6.  The random # generator is run, and whichever # comes up gets the top pick (and then done again for subsequent picks).    The #'s are as follows:

Championship:
Jerry Lewis - 1
Derek - 2
Vienna - 3
Archangel - 4
Westside - 5
Wolverine - 6

Consolation:
Ted - 1
Columbia - 2
John M - 3
Genghis - 4
Norwegian - 5
Wow - 6

Sweet! I get first choice. Before I choose, who is going into the draft? I would like to see a list of best available players before I choose.
Also, how much longer can I keep Kobe and Boozer?
Sorry, I'm still new to this keeper league.

Actually, I realize not everyone has chosen their keepers yet, so there is no way to know that.
Who is going back because the have 0 years of eligibility left?

Adam,

If you drafted Kobe and Boozer last year (and didn't keep them), then they'll have two more years as keeper options (this season and - if you choose - NEXT season).  If one of them was kept last year - and I believe Kobe was - then this will be the last year they can be selected as a keeper.

By the way, you lucky SOB, Chris Paul is out of eligibility and will be in this year's draft.  He'll go number one ... and it appears he'll go number one to you.

Ted -- are you gonna be a man and own up to why we ought to declare keepers first before selecting our draft position? Come on, you can do it . . . (Norwegian hit it on the head -- well, sort of . . .)

Just because this is how it's been done in years past doesn't make it right . . .

The ability to declare keepers as late as possible (and thus watch more preseason, and get more time for fluke preseason injuries to happen before making your declarations) is much more important than deciding where you're going to draft based on who's available.  If deciding your draft spot was a one day affair (or even one weekend affair), we could still keep the keeper declaration late and have the draft decision after that, but it's not.  So we either have draft slot decision first, or we move up the date to when you need to declare your keepers to before preseason.  I'm sorry, I don't agree that's a fair tradeoff.

I think we've had, maybe, 3 people not select the first available draft spot in the years we've done this.  If you think a lot of people are all of a sudden going to be selecting out of order, I think you're quite wrong.

In fact, this is the only league I've been a part of that actually allows you to select your spot.  Most just give you the first available slot.  Oh, the inhumanity of only knowing for 95% certainty what someones keepers are going to be before you select where you're going to draft.

I'll officially notifiy that I'm taking the earliest spot available.

I'm expecting a certain point guard I've been known to covet to be out there.

Excuse me...but Columbia Penguins *IS* Tim.

The other person in the league is THE SUPES.  I have no idea who that is, and he's the one person who is not signed up.

He's one of your friends, isn't he, Derek?
