Dan -
Using "mundane" to decribe the reference to the Bataan Death March did have me wondering a bit. "Unexciting" and 'humdrum" are also interchangeable synonyms for mundane, and I would hope that any references to that historical event never crosses into those types of adjectives.
As for Jackson using the term, no, I can't say that I have often heard the reference to the Death March in quite the same way that he thought it appropriate, or even mundane, to use it as the appropriate metaphor there. It sounded a bit pedantic on his part to use the reference anyway, and what reaction was he hoping the printing of the phrase by the media would accomplish is anyone's guess, but you have mine.
Thanks for the apology, though there was really no need, as I find your dialogue on the whole to be very worthy and sincere, and you certainly can be allowed some slack by now.
But those Hollywood Oscar losers stuffing the crowd at Staples, booing Duncan as he was helped to the locker room......we may need to come up with another insulting metaphor before long to compensate.
