Go Tigers
A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

Well we got our butts whomped.  Kung Fu Panda, the Round Mound of Pound was the man.

I am sorry but I have been a Tiger fan since I first started watching baseball in 1968.  I get why a Dodger fan is rooting against the Giants, but what is your issue with the Tigers?

Not the Tigers per se, just the American League in general. Actually given the 2 teams playing, I simply must root for the Tigers but I would have rather seen the (GASP!) Cardinals go all the way rather than the stinking Giants!

I think I speak for a lot of MN sports fans when I say my immense respect for Jim Leyland and Justin Verlander is not enough to counter my loathing of Delmon Young.   I am far less passionate about baseball than I am about other sports but if that guy gets a world series ring I might need to see a therapist.

LOL JN I agree! That said I will endure therapy if it means the Giant don't get a ring, Although what Sandoval did was amazing, I still hate all things San Francisco Giants.

And no one get on me for being a dyed in the wool, true, bleeds crimson and gold 49er fan, I can't explain it either, it must be the schizophrenic in me

I am a Tiger fan, but if there has ever been a Tiger that I hated to root for it is Delmon Young.  His whole deal in New York this spring was appalling, his incident with the umpire in the minors was borderline criminal.  This is an organization that signed 2 ex-cons (Ron Leflore and Gates Brown), and had a future convict pitching for us (Denny McClain now that guy is a scum bag), and Delmon Young is the bottom of the barrel.

I really hope Victor Martinez can come back healthy next year.  Since next year is Young's last before FA, he will get a wad of money in arbitration, and if we have VM healthy the Young becomes redundant, and we can ship him to the Dodgers  :o, for a pitching prospect  :P.

Listen I will offer Young for Matt Magill.  He was a 31st round draft pick, and pitched in AA last year.  That's fair isn't it  ;)?

Gene Lamont made the wrong decision.  Blanco had picked up the ball before Fielder had reached third, it was a bad call by Lamont.  Scuturo is the Derek Jeter of this series.  Smart and gets himself it to the right position to make the right plays.  That play was all Scuturo.

Wow that was over fast.  I figured the long layoff would affect the Tigers negatively, but I thought their pitching would help them get through, at least for a couple of wins.  The starting pitching was good, but not great, but the offense was abysmal.
It was a fun ride regardless!
