I'd been meaning to post something about the Twins here, specifically about Jim Thome. Let's see, 40 year old who has tormented MN fans throughout his carreer suddenly finds himself playing for a MN team and is suddenly rejuvenated. Unlike Favre, however, Thome is absolutley %100 drama free. He has gotten even hotter as the year has wound down and is hitting some absolutely titantic homers.
This is a really solid team. The only concern I have is about not having a proven, dominant starter or closer. Pavano has been fantastic this year and Liriano has had some outstanding moments but I still don't know that they are guys you feel completely confident in for a high pressure situation. Not the way I felt in 87 about Blyleven or in 91 about Jack Morris.
And yes it would be good to see the Padres make the playoffs. They are certainly due.
