Anyone see the NJ game?

Also the Lakers swept the EC at home.  Not a single team from the East beat them at home.
The Kings only lost to the Bucks at home this year- in their last home game against an Eastern team. Last year they went undefeated. Before losing to the Bucks, the Kings set the NBA record for consecutive home victories against the opposing conference.

I thinkk D just got SERVED....he got served something fierce!   ;)

sorry still thinking about southpark......
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

um....actually, i didn't.

Let me go through this.

First of all, I said the Pacers and Pistons wouldn't get beat against the 5-8 teams in the west.  Their combined record was 12-4.  How does that prove that it would be a competitive series (7 games) and they'd POSSIBLY get by those teams?

Yup, I got served.

You guys proved my point.

as oppossed to indy playing what? philly for instance? how many times? the nets?

what team in the east would be a minnie to indy? how about a houston? who would be a denver??
and:
Quote
Who in the EC does Jermaine have to play tough defense against at the 4? Other than Sheed moving to Detroit during the season he didnt have to face serious post players.

All teams have to play the same 56 games, that's 68% of the schedule.  To say they're untested is ridiculous.  In the grand scheme of things, considering their record v. the west, the difference is 5 wins, at the max.

Quote
Sure looks extremely positive for the East's chances in the finals.
That's not what I said.  I said 2 things, that they wouldn't be taken to 7 games by the 5-8 seeds in the west, and that they could hold their own with the lakers.  You proved my point on the one, the other was proven right below you...

Quote
Pacers record against the four top western teams, minus Sacramento: 3-3
Pistons record against the four top western teams, minus Sacramento: 2-4

Seems like holding their own against minn, sa and la.

Furthermore, going 3-5 against the top 4 seeds in the west isn't getting smoked.  it's one game away from .500 ball, which would if played as a series would qualify as evenly played.

Quote
Lakers record versus the East - 25-5
Kings record versus the East - 24-6
Wolves record versus the East - 24-6
Spurs record versus the East - 22-8
Mavs record versus the East - 19-11

Not all that much better than the Pacers 20-8 record against the west.

Of course, as you guys pointed out, the east is weaker.  So what's a better statement of strength, 20-8 (71.4 winning %) against the strong conference or 19-11 (63.3%) & 22-8 (73.3%) against the inferior conference?

Quote

What did this have to do with anything I said in my post?

If you want to trump up your team, by all means, do.  But it doesn't dispute anything I said in my original post.

Nothing you guys have posted have disproved either of my statements:
1) That the Pistons and Pacers ARE better than the 5-8 seeds out west.
2) That the Pistons and Pacers could hold their own against the Lakers (and, as JoMal kindly pointed out, Minn and SA).

FYI:

The win vs LA was without Shaq.

The east is weak no questions.  They're not in the same league as the west.  The Pistons and Pacers would be lucky to get out of the first round.  In fact I would put money on them NOT getting out of the first round in the west.

The Pacers had a very good record vs. the East but the playoffs are a whole different story and that was the point of the poster who brought up the Grizz.  The Pistons have been upgraded with Wallace but seriously they dont' have a shot.  The Least from the East's only hope is the finals is only ONE series, no way they survive in the west but they only have to play ONE team in the finals.

It's a shame the WC champ has to even play the EC easy street champ.  Seeding them 1-16 based on record would be the best way to go, that way the West can play each other in the later rounds and more inportantly in the finals.

It's really irrelevant.

Really?  Thanks Sherlock.  I think you might be the first one to realize that.  (oh yeah, this thread isn't about the entire east).

I assume you mean the West, and that's not the point.  The point is that they said I got "served" when they didn't produce anything to go against what I said.

It wasn't about if they had a shot in the finals.

FYI D,

You got SERVED!

I guess you don't really understand the underlying meaning of that statement.  I didn't see the episode but I think I have an idea about the premise, ergo YOU GOT SERVED BINKY!

I was never responding to your post, Dbodner. I was by all means just trumping up my own team, and that quote you cited by me was a response to some homey named "guest" lauding a little snickpick about how the Lakers did this year against the east.

Actually, I agree with you about Detroit and Indiana fairing okay against western teams. OTHER western teams beside the Kings, that is, who, again played the East about as well as anyone did from the west this year, and won all four games against the Pacers and Pistons.

Is the East a part of the NBA?  I was under the impression the East was the practice team for the NBA Developmental League.

Despite the loss to the Spurs I believe the Lakers can win the West and the Sparks could win the East.

Even Leisa Leslie laughs at the Eastern Conference.

I guess I just have to rip the East because even the good teams are tainted by the foul stench of the bottom feeders. What's worse, some of those, (Knicks and Celtics, most notably) made the playoffs.

How about the Euroleague champion takes on the East Champ instead.  I look forward to Macabbee Tel Aviv or Real Madrid taking the winner.   B)

I think the best way to make the east look like it has a REAL championship level team is to put them up against the Iraqi national Basketball [pre-fall of saddam of course].  they would have had a good seven game series that way and could have looke liked they deserved to win.....the post-fall of saddam is too wimpy to be considered a real team.....maybe slightly better than the knicks i guess....

How's about having them play the Knicks in a Winner-Take-ALL for New York City? The loser can be left with the street courts in Newark. Hear they have some fierce players over there.
