First one of the season

Not going to improve Chris Pauls mood any more would be my guess...

teh nba is absurdly stupid.  A guy goes 105-59 the past two years.  He has a rough 9 game stretch and canned.

Had he gone 3-6 in january nobody would say a peep.  Not letting him work his way out of the rough start is absurd.

Well the GM had to blame SOMEBODY for their god awful roster - i mean he can't fire himself for over paying James Posey can he?

Plus you gotta look like you're doing something before Chris Paul demands a trade...which he'll do shortly I'm sure...and besides, isn't shinn one of the 'worser' (yes my own word) owners in the NBA?

Once again the tactic of 'shaking up the team' by firing the coach.  I don't get why players should get worried about this.  The team is not going to just 'fire' them.

I wonder what the thinking behind this is.  Do they feel he can't reach the team?  To me it seems like  their trade is having more of a negative impact than they thought (loss of shot blocking and simple alley oops).

The Posey and Okafor moves were not good moves IMO.

But the GM can't fire himself so he has to make someone 'pay' for his moves not working out...

@ricbucher reports that the Hornets are adding head coach to GM Jeff Bower's duties and bringing in Tim Floyd to be top assistant

Awesome move!

The same Tim Floyd who went 49-190 with his last NBA team?

The same Tim Floyd who was so good at cheating at USC right?

This is one of those - you made this mess you try and fix it thing - I expect Bower is coaching to stay employed

I have to think B Scott will land a job sooner rather than later.

Probably, since the NBA seems to be the league least likely to not go retread - but does he DESERVE one?

What do you mean does he deserve one?  The guy did pretty well for a pro coach over the past few seasons.

Coaches get too much credit for wins and losses in general, didn't new orleans under perform when they were the #1 seed (or close to it) in the west, he can't be blamed for injuries and bad signings but I'm just asking because the NBA tends to be retread central...

retread implies not deserving.  I don't agree with that statement.

Wasn't meant to be, retread to me just means a same old same old names and in the NBA we got more 'repeats' than in most leagues - no freshness comes to the league.

If you feel Byron Scott got the most (or more) out of the talent he had EVERY year but this one - fine he deserves again - if he had one good season and a bunch of bad ones - maybe not

Actually they lost in the playoffs to a team with a real post presence.  Something they didn't have.  That is part of the reason the GM went after Okafor because they felt he would be able to score more in the paint than Tyson Chandler would.  I wouldn't call that under achieving.  I would call that losing to a better team who has a clear advantage over you in the post.
