2009 Draft Thread
« on: June 25, 2009, 06:51:14 PM »
I can see the headline a few years from now: "The Memphis Grizzlies selected Hasheem Thabeet at number two ... and subsequently realized why they're still the Memphis Grizzlies."

Apparently, the Wolves want to ruin not just one, but two points guards.

Why you should not let your PLAYERS twitter.....

Kevin Love was on there complaining about the picks.  Real smart.  Stick to basketball K-Love.  Jeez.

Tyler Hansborough did end up where the mock draft said.

Amazed that DeJuan Blair dropped to the Spurs at 37.  Hopefully his energy & rebounding that helped Pitt to the Elite 8 will translate into the NBA.

Of course since the Spurs drafted him he will be ROY and an allstar by his 3rd year.    ;)

No doubt the Spurs really improved themselves with Jefferson and Blair.

I wish they had taken DeJuan Wagner.  The one thing I had heard was that some sort of injury had cropped up with him that scared some teams off.  Chronic back problem? Something like that.

Actually I think Love's message is pretty funny.  In fact, I have to wonder if Flynn, Rubio and Lawson were thinking exactly the same thing!

All the experts love the Wolves pick of Wayne Ellington and I agree.   He's not a spectacular athlete but he's solid in that department and he can light it up from three.

Both knees have had surgery.  Probably not a long term career ahead but could be solid for 5-6 years.

3 deals on the table for Rubio between yesterday and today.  Guess we will have to wait and see what they do with them before we all scratch our heads.  That kind of falls in line with my thinking of the Kevin Love twitter messages, let the GMs do their job, you play ball!

Mike D'Antoni sounded let down on Dan Patrick's show this morning when he was asked about Curry.  I think he had his heart set on getting that type of player for his system to try to re-start that engine.  In a weird twist of events Curry might end up in Phoenix in a deal for Stoudamire that includes (Curry), Andres Biedrins, Kelenna Azubuike, Brandan Wright, and Marco Belinelli.

I see.  Well, it's not like the Spurs are going to be dependent on him playing 40 minutes a game.  They'll just need him to go in and bang for 15-20.

Dajuan Wagner hasn't been in the nba for a few years.  I think you're thinking of Dejuan Blair.

I do not understand why Wolves did not get Curry, he is exactly what they need.  I guess that means that they are going to trade Rubio.  The Wolves are already getting complaints from Rubio, one complaint was it's too cold in Minny for his mom.

I guess Rubio is gone.

Blair, nice.
His positioning (ahem, shoving) and rebounding kinda resemble Barkley.  Anyone see the similarities?
