Looks like they are at least exploring all possibilities before fully committing to any single candidate.  Still hoping for Avery Johnson.

"They'll be lining up to coach here."  A pretty bold statement, considering he'll now have to walk the walk and choose a suitable long term solution, seeing as how there is no shortage of willing candidates.  Besides that statement, nothing much said.... Ed's looking for a communicator.

Dwayne Casey from the Mavericks and Tom Thibodeau to interview with the Sixers:

According to Fagan, of the 19 years Thibodeau has been an assistant coach, his teams have been top ten defensively 15 years.

If I heard correctly, ESPN 950 is reporting that they'll interview Kurt Rambis as well.

Rambis?  A little out of left field...

Yeah, it's from the left field, but interview was conducted yesterday in Santa Monica and Ed spoke to Casey today.

Rambis is a legit candidate.

He's got a taste of HC experience, both as the guy for a part of a season and occasionally filling in for Phil.

10 years as a top assistant for a HOF coach is a very good resume.  I wouldn't have a problem if he were the choice.

some more possible candidates:

"Winning is always appealing, which is why we should think that Ed Stefanski will also talk to Denver assistant Adrian Dantley, an NBA great and longtime assistant coach, whose team is playing against Rambis? Lakers.

The Rambis interview was somewhat surprising but because it, I will not ignore a text message from a reliable source saying Villanova head coach Jay Wright is definitely in the mix."

Jay Wright is a great recruiter but a mediocre coach ==> recruiting doesn't cover up your lack of x's and o's in the NBA.

Uh, WHAT!?  A guy who hasn't recruited a single legit player over 6'9 in years but consistently has his team playing deep in the NCAA tourney is a great recruiter and a mediocre coach?  His style may not by right for the NBA, but let's not sell the guy short here.

Not sure I'd say Wright's a mediocre coach, but he's definitely a great recruiter.  He pretty much has a stranglehold on east coast guards.

Also, Jason Fraser and Curtis Sumpter were big time recruits.  Fraser didn't pan out, but he was a legit prospect.

What is Wright's style?

From my observation, it's to recruit a bunch of guards and let them freelance on offense.  They play pretty good defense most of the time, but offensively it's been a free-for-all.

Jay Wright would get eaten alive in the NBA.

To be fair - Roy Williams is a pretty mediocre gameday coach as well.  He "gets by" with being the best recruiter in the nation and installing a system that consistantly gives his superior roster an advantage.  Watching his lack of adjustments during a game is painful.
