Did Shaq foul out on purpose?
« on: February 12, 2004, 10:15:59 AM »
The shot Yao Ming made with 3:47 left to make it 95-80 Rockets was the sweet switch hands reverse step crossover wherein he drove across the lane near 12 feet away, stopped, changed directions and it to the hoop and layed it in.  Shrek obviously fouled him on that play but no call.  It was the second hoop in a row for Yao, 10th point of the qtr and was yet another move in a night of Skyhooks, jumpers, fast break layups and midrange jumpers over Shaq.
At this point, the look on Shaq was clearly one of a beaten down boy.  So next Rocket trip up the court Shrak commits his 6th and final foul.  Looked like he did it on absolute purpose.  I say he wanted out of the game.  Any of you Non Lakers see the game/play?  Lakers too tell us your purple and gold version.
His postgame comments were the usual sore loser  Hypo-c comments.  "Yao just got the whistle, it was our mistakes nothing they did blah blah blah"  yao in no way shape or form got preferential treatment and in fact could and should have gotten a lot more calls.  Shraq did kind of get burned on the hard Stevie F foul call.  Or did he, Shrak being within the little no contact circle.
Oh and Phildos contract renewal talks are shelved.  Phil saying "with the upcoming summer free agency (situation within the Lakers)...
Kobe Spur.  Manu and Kobe.   Yess.
