If teams names truly reflected their cities....
« on: January 24, 2009, 12:19:13 AM »
Okay board, I'm counting on your creativity.

This is from another board. I've posted links to there before, but so WoW doesn't jizz in his, wait, well anyways so WoW doesnt "self own" himself for the millionth time hoping he has **got** me, I'll identify (again), this is from the site SpursTalk.

So, let the fun begin.  Which the fun did begin by:
I wonder how many famous Jazz musicians are from Utah?
That led to:
"Isn't California devoid of lakes? There's another that should've been changed, but "Lakers" just seems like a cooler word than Jazz."  <(again, just roll with it.  This posted by WoWs cousin/uncle)

Which then rolled into:
How many Raptors do you see in Toronto?
How many kings do you see in Sacramento?
How come there arent any grizzlies in Memphis?
I dont think there are any wizards in Washington.

Los Angeles Up-and-coming-actors-but-for-right-now-waiting-tables.
Los Angeles Mexicans.
Los Angeles Implants.
Utah White Skins.
Utah Salt.
Utah Osmonds.
Utah Plurals.

How many heats are there in Miami?
How many magics in Orlando?

So can we continue with Cities with appropriately matching last names.

Dallas - Double Troubles (Since they have to play twice on the same date).  :D

Maybe it's because I'm slightly buzzed (a few beers and a shot of Crown tends to do that) and in a good mood (Spring Training less than a month away!), but that was awesome.

I suggest the Minnesota Frozen.
Or how 'bout the New York Assholes?
Maybe we should go international and say the Ireland Drunks.
This message was brought to you by Diet Dr. Pepper.  It tastes more like regular Dr. Pepper.

FYI, we TRY to keep "bad words" off the board but I don't know if something like "ice holes" or "shyte" is any better.

First of all, Miami does have HEAT.  I think that name is appropriate.

Orlando Magic works for me as well, given Orlando is home to "The Magic Kingdom."  But I draw the line at Stuff - the Magic's Dragon.

The Raptors name still bugs me.  Can't remember what personality originally suggested it, but I still say if they wanted to go for a dinosaur, they should be the "Toronto Saurus Rex."

Hornets in New Orleans?  Nah.

Hawks in Atlanta?

Given recent shuttle history, should Houston change its mascot to "the Problems"?  Seems especially appropriate now that Artest is there.

Warriors in Golden State?  Given the peace-loving hippie slant to the state, I think not.

Kings in Sacramento?  Trailblazers in Portland?

And thank goodness for the bailout, or else Detroit couldn't remain "the Pistons."

Utah Mormons.....Because I see way more Mormons than Jazz musicians there.

New Orleans Jazz....Because I hear way more Jazz music playing than I hear hornets buzzing.

Los Angeles (lawn)Clippers works.

We don't have Lakers but I don't know if Los Angeles Rich People would actually help the Lakers remain popular all around the league.

Phoenix Suns works great.  Anyone who has been there in the summer will tell you.
