Leagues top 2 SGs to go at it again tonight
« on: January 05, 2009, 01:55:12 PM »
If your interest is Championships, and most all boardies have stated emphatically that "championships" are what counts, then recent years Championship SGs will be on display tonight when the Miami Heat host the San Antonio Spurs.

Manu SuperGnob has been jumping well off his injured ankle, altho it remains to be seen if GNob can rebound from his rather disappointing drop to 3 rings in 7 years.  GNob will try to return to .500 on Championships/years in league this year.

MIAMI:  Manu Ginobili dribbled to his left, turned a corner and, shifting into another gear, sped headlong toward the paint. He got within eight feet of the basket when Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala appeared in front of him, an unavoidable obstacle to a layup.  Braking on a dime, Ginobili leaned in, drew contact from Iguodala and, almost as an afterthought on his way to the ground, lofted the ball at the basket.  Swish. And a foul.
That play, late in the first quarter of the Spurs' victory over the 76ers on Saturday, was the kind Ginobili has made hundreds of times in his basketball life. Which is what made it such an important signpost in his ongoing recovery from offseason ankle surgery.

There have been a couple of possessions where I felt like it was me again, Ginobili said. I haven't felt like that for a whole game yet. I'm working on it, trying to get that back.  http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/Ginobili_slowly_moving_closer_to_feeling_like_himself.html

Meanwhile DWade is heathly again following his 2006 Championship run.

The Spurs are 9-2 against the Heat with Duncan, Parker and Ginobili all in the lineup.

Wow.

And here I thought Bryant's 3 championships and 5 finals appearances plus 1 Olympic Gold might get him some consideration over Ginobilli and Wade.

Silly me.

The reigning NBA champ 2 guard has as many titles in as many appearances as Wade.  And if Kobe is going to be blasted for being second fiddle to Shaq, then Ginobilli ought to be blasted for being 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fiddle to the likes of Duncan, Horry, and Parker.

The NBA's top 2 guard is Bryant.  While I believe that Ginobilli belongs in the discussion of who's number 2, to leave out Bryant in favor of him - OR WADE, FOR THAT MATTER - makes the rest of that message GARBAGE.

So is Bron considered an SG or SF?  Brons skills allow him to play PG/SG/SF, his build allows him to also play PF.

What is your opinion of DWade's defense?  IMO Wade was the "overall" MVP for Team USA, even though Kobe SINGLE handedly won the gold-medal game for Team USA in the closing minutes.  Wade was very impressive in the tournament, he was everywhere on both ends of the court.  He was a beast on defense and was close to unstoppable on offense.  IMO it seems like an argument can be made for the order of the top 3 SG's in the league if Bron is considered an SG.

A legit argument can be made for every ranking combo:
Bryant/Wade/Bron
Bryant/Bron/Wade
Wade/Bryant/Bron
Wade/Bron/Bryant
Bron/Bryant/Wade
Bron/Wade/Bryant

Bron doesn't play the two guard or else I would agree...he could play it if he wants but he doesnt.

Wade has been very good so far this year.  Hes on my fantasy team so obviously I've followed him very closely.  Not only are his numbers impressive on the offensive end but on the defensive end hes improved.  I think part of that has to do with TEAM USA.  His steals and blocks have gone up.  He seems to focus a bit more on that end of the court as well.

I liked the play at the end of the game where Iguodala blew by Ginobli and Duncan for a two handed slam.  Ginobli is a good player, but nowhere near close to Kobe or Wade.

Gee since Cleveland also starts 6'3" Delonte West and 6'1" Mo Williams you wonder what LeBron plays.
Try watching a game.  Or reading a boxscore. :D :D

I have not watched too many Cavs games but what is their game plan when LeBron is not having a good night offensively?  What does Bron-Bron do when his shot is not falling from the outside?  Do teams back off Bron and make him prove he can hit the jumper anymore?

OWNED.  You probably don't even know the difference between a 2 or 3, let alone how positions are determined in the league.

TD is listed at 6-11 and Bonner and Flabs are listed at 6-10, who plays center for the Spurs?  Google for rosters and listed heights all you want but only an idiot would think position in the league is determined by height!  LOL! Utter and complete OWNAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
