Why not put Iguodala at point and  find a shooting guard who could shoot - he's got good court vision and is more likely to grow into the position than louis williams.

I woudl think shooting guards who could shoot would be easier to find"? and you don't so much have to worry about the height because you can swap Iguodala and this 2 guard on defense

What about another guy who is more of a combo guard who can shoot and who can play some point, but is complimented by Iguodala's playmaking?  Best candidate might still be Hinrich.  Sammy for Hinrich (longer contract, lots of guards in Chicago) and Gray?  The style Chicago is playing is very perimeter oriented.  A shotblocker/rebounder at center like Sammy might be a good fit for them, throw him the occasional lob from their spread out offense.  If you can sweeten the pot a little to get Noah or Thomas, all the better.  Then add a lock down PG defender as a back-up (a rich man's Ivey), possibly through the draft to defend small quick points.

Sessions was the assist monster late last year, now he is scoring a ton.  He interests me.  Felton is another, smaller, combo guard who might play better with a playmaking SG like Iggy, although his FG% is always low.

Skates:

No way we can sweeten the pot to get Thomas - although it would be nice.  Noah is more possible, I would think.

Have the Bulls lost their "Bird rights" for Gordon?  He's playing pretty damn well for them right now...and they can't resign him without becoming a taxpayer...unless they can move Hinrich's contract without taking on salary.

Keeping Gordon?  Miller for Hinrich.

Gordon walks after the season?  Sammy for Hinrich.

I think that Hinrich is just about the best fit.

He would lose his bird rights.  It's the same as the dude on the Mavs did to block himself from getting traded last year.  I forget who it was, but he was a one year bird guy as well.

Here is an inventory list of PG's presently playing for or previously drafted by NBA teams......Some are established players, some might be considered more SG than PG.  Here they are (from the Atlantic to Pacific), other than the upcoming draft, expect one or more of these guys to replace Miller by next year:

Stephen Graham

If they replace Miller with this dude, I'm out.

That was Devean freaking George, like anyone was going to exercise their Bird rights on that guy.

The funny thing with the Bulls is that I am not sure they are that high on Thomas any more.  he looked good in pre-season, but can't keep a starting job, although he has looked good in games I have seen this year.  Del Negro is running a very perimeter oriented attack where the guards handle, shoot and drive a lot with everyone else cleared out.  Thomas does not seem to be a fit in that offense.  They need a real shotblocker at C, but I think they feel Thomas is not big (i.e. strong) enough to handle the center spot as they put bulkier guys like Gooden and Gray there.

I'm neither high on thomas OR Noah - i never liked Joakim Noah as an NBA player - just rubbed me the wrong way...they don't have a real center though - so they could probably use sam - and hinrich would be fine...

Tyrus reminds me a lot of Stromile Swift- and not in a good way.

I think Noah could be a nice back-up center long term.  He is mobile, can hit the boards, block a shot or two and is not a complete disaster on offense, a bit of a "glue guy" as a big man, though definitely a weird dude.  Thomas is definitely boom or bust and so far has proved the latter more than the former.  He would seem a good fit for a running team more than as a traditional PF.  The Swift comparisons are appropriate, although Thomas seems like a more intelligent player than Swift.

Crittenton and Mike James on their way to the Wiz.  Daniels to the Hornets.

I had a feeling a Crittenton trade was imminent.

I'd be on board with a Dalembert for Hinrich and Gray trade.  Upgrading Gray for Noah is probably asking too much.. and I doubt Ed is high enough on Noah to sweeten the pot.  This would make our most movable trade piece in Miller expendable and we'd be in a position to either add shooters or fill the hole at center.  I know I sound like a broken record, but if Sam can net us a starting PG, Id love to explore a Miller for Miller deal with Sacramento.

B. Miller/Gray/Ratliff
Brand/Speights/Evans/Marshall
Young/Rush
Iguodala/Green/Williams
Hinrich/Williams/Ivey

I think that's a much better balance than our current lineup.

Miller for Miller is an option primarily if Sacto wants to clear salary and playing time for Thompson and Hawes, which they should.  I don't see where they hae a need for Miller otherwise.

Looking at the possible contenders out there this year, Houston appears to be the most PG poor, although I know McGrady handles the ball a lot too.  Miller for Battier plus a contract like Francis or other flotsam would be ideal.  Battier could play the 3 and 4 (although his board work is lacking), provide three point shooting and defense.  If we replaced Miller in a Sammy deal I would be happy with that even if we had to sweeten the offer with a reasonable future pick, of course that is presuming Battier is really healthy.
