My view of it is that Thad and Speights are probably the two most talented players on the team, but Mo is of the honor the veterans' veteranicity school of coaching.

Ironically, I think Brand, Miller and Iguodala would hugely benefit if Thad and Speights were given a bigger load to carry on the offensive end.  Complementary players can shine when the attention is focussed more on other more gifted offensive weapons.

An interesting situation to monitor is out in Phoenix.  Nash and Stoudemire are both unhappy.  If they start struggling, I wonder who they make available...

Not that I am necessarily advocating this, but if we somehow traded for Nash, would we hold his "Bird" rights this summer?

I believe Nash is a 2010 free agent - according to story tellers he has a partially guaranteed contract (only reason I know it is because his name has come up in "Lebron to New York" rumor craziness)...

The sixers started out 9-14 after 23 games last year

They seem to be on that pace this year

December 4/5 is the one year anniversary of the billy king firing, stefanski hiring, i'm just saying

HoopsHype has it as a team option for next year, but I do believe that it's partially guaranteed.

Btw, I will strongly advocate trading for Steve Nash.  Let's do it.  Now.

How much are you willing to give up for Nash cause I'm thinking Young and Speights and Miller wouldn't be enough even if he WAS on the market.

For a team like Portland looking for a guy to guide their team for 2 years, with all that young talent and a bigger expiring contract in lafrentz - they'd be able to trump any sixers deal really.

The problem is that the sixers need a PG and the Blazers need a PG (short term at least) and the blazers asset trump the sixers assets in my opinion

ESPN has Nash listed as a 2009 unrestricted FA...I guess that they are wrong.

Realistically, what could we trade to get him?  Aside from the BYC stuff, they have swing guys out the ying-yang, so I can't imagine that they would be interested in Iggy...Sammy has simply played himself out of any meaningful trade value...and if we can't get a guy like Hinrich for Miller, we sure as hell can't get Nash for him...

Oh it would take young, speights, probably a first round pick or two and miller - and then other stuff to balance out the contracts - as i think nash makes close to 18 mil and miller makes about 10

jem:

If the Suns think they are ready to rebuild and move Nash, I think that Thad, Speights and Miller is a LOT to give for Nash.  If I were them, I would look REALLY hard at that...but there is no way that I would given that much up for Nash...they whole point of getting him would be to have him play with Thad, Brand and Speights, IMO.

Yeah I know - i'm just saying - if nash is on the market there are teams out there that can spare their young pieces and expiring deals (like the Blazers) without gutting their teams - hence even if nash is on the market (and there are rumors of rumors of dissension in Phoenix) - I don't really believe the sixers have the chips to get him. The blazers need a point guard, the sixers do, and the blazers to me just have better chips than the sixers...in terms of expiring deal AND youth without gutting their 'young core' like the sixers would have to do.

I believe the sixers have a better chance of making a trade for a young PG from a team over loaded with them like Portland or Memphis...and it'll be a risky move - an upside type move - i think that's really all they can do

Agreed...but it was nice to think about...until reality set in.

Memphis sounds like the best bet...hard to see Portland having any real interest in either Miller or Sammy.

The only thing is if Phoenix still wants to compete, Miller gives them a MUCH better option at PG with no longterm commitment if he doesn't work out than pretty much any other team can offer.  We still don't have the pieces to add though.

If Phoenix still wants to compete then they don't trade nash who gives them a much better option than miller
