Could be the wrong word, but the 'exact' definition of who is or isn't jewish is not based on your fathers religion, but your mothers...if your mom is jewish, you are, if she isn't, you aren't (unless you are a reform jew and then you just have to 'want' to be jewish not have a jewish parent, you can also have cheesesteaks, in a synagogue, for dinner during a bar mitzvah after the bar mitzvah was performed, in english, by two people simultaneously)
Plus there's the on going trend of jews in america trying to assimilate into 'christian' society by claiming to still be jewish but by doing things like putting up hannukah bushes...the gift giving was bad enough.
