Via Sixersoul, Phil Jasner at the Philadelphia Daily News reports that new $80 million dollar man Andre Iguodola would like you to stop calling him 'Iggy,' thanks. "In 4 years, he has been called 'A.I.2,' 'Iggy' and 'The Other A.I.' "I don't like 'Iggy,' I don't mind 'The Other A.I.,'" he said. "It just shows the fans are watching basketball and know what I do. I want to be 'Dre, that's it. 'The A.I. thing, it's about Allen, always being in his shadow. He's a different player, brings a different element. It's like Kobe and Michael Jordan. Everybody says, 'Who's the next M.J?' You never want to be compared to another player [that way]. I just want to be me.'" Manuel "don't call me Manny" Lee feels 'Dre's pain.

Did anyone catch that Sportsnite version of cribs showing 'Dre' looking at homes in Philly?

Yeah, I always chuckle when I see people refer to him as that.

He should get a different nickname.  Iggy is just short for Iguodala, but he doesn't LOOK like an Iggy.  AI 2, made more sense when they were both on the same team.

'Dre doesn't do it for me either.

If he could play a little better we could start calling him Dr. I.

Honestly, Iggy's just not cool. We could just refer to him as "Iguodala" and be done with it.

AI2 never seemed right to me and Iguodala said why, I have always tried to avoid calling him the name that shall not be used...as he stated early in his career here he didn't like it.

I mean he doesn't NEED a nick name.

I mean, he could have a nickname like that guy in miami, i mean what kind of nick name is duane?

Suck it up Iggy.

If I ever happen to meet the guy I'll call him Andre, on a message board I call him Iggy.  I'm pretty sure a guy making $80 million really doesn't care what he gets called on boards like this.

I caught that Sportsnite clip of showing him looking at houses. It was a pretty pimp place in Old City that go by one unit is an entire floor but it showed Iguodala wanting two floors so they would make a circular staircase going up and opening it up. It had a pool outside and a really nice view of the city and the stadiums.

Eh. I haven't referred to him as "Iggy" for a while since it's a silly word and more of a hockey nickname. In fact, I've given up on the whole nickname obsession that seems to have swept the sports world. I'm just glad the days of a player getting a nickname that involves the first initial of their first name and the first syllable of their last name seem to be over.

I've said this before.... why does EVERY player need a nickname? Nicknames used to be cool when they were original. Air Jordan, The Mailman, Magic, The Human Highlight Film, and Chocolate Thunder were fun and memorable. There are a couple of good ones today (The Big Ticket, Diesel, Half Man-Half Amazing) but most of them are garbage and I put T-Mac, The Truth, and The Answer in the garbage pile.

On the subject matter of being banned from internet forums, I'll defer to your expertise.
