I figured one place to put all the articles that might be sixer related might be easier than a thread for each one...henry abbott over at truehoop had a nice thing to say about stefanski today

Has some credibility coming from Woj- given he was the leader in breaking the Brand to Philly story.

I don't really buy the premise- and he seems to be trying to make the facts fit his hypothesis instead of working the other way around.

I can see it in Falks interest to talk Brand into getting more money (bigger commission) but I doubt this was all about Falk wanting to be vindictive.

tk:

I do think that - by Dunleavy and the Clips bypassing Falk and going directly to Brand - they left themselves open to be played...and that is nobody's fault but theirs.  They also should have studied up on their history (Brand's offer sheet with the Heat), and once Elton opted out, they needed to come to the table STRONG...and they didn't.

Are some of the comments from Brand and Falk self-serving?  Of course.  But if the Clips would have come to Brand with either 1) a $75-80 million offer right out of the chute, or 2) clear communication - right fron the start - that they would do whatever it took to keep him, then Stefanski may have never had a chance to get into the game.

Shame on them...and good for us.

Article about Luuko, the man behind the scenes overseeing the post AI transformation of the team.  Not that I care much, but I think he made a bit of a politically incorrect statement...  When you are a middle aged white guy replacing a high profile Black exec with another middle aged white guy, saying you chose Ed because he was "He's one of us" is not exactly the best choice of words  :)

Jasner writes that the Clippers might make an offer to Iguodala. Also of interest is a quote from Elton Brand about the Sixers re-signed Iguodala.

"That's a guy we have to have," said Brand, who repeated: "Management has let me know they'll match any offer."

It would seem like Brand is looking forward to playing with #9.

In the world of 'modern' statistics, dave berri has a pretty big profile, and through him i found another interesting writer whose crap goes WAY over my head, the arbitrarian who has come up with a way to try and analyze 'playing style'

Morey (PH note: Houston GM) added Monday?s moves will not be the last, saying he planned a ?minor? trade for this month.

"There is definitely going to be a roster management move,? Morey said, "probably in the next two weeks.?

So what?

really minor news...but we are talking to the rockets about getting Steve Novak for future considerations...they have too many players..we dont have enough..we can fit his salary.....he can shoot..seems like a decent fit based on that alone.

Sounds good to me.

I'd definitely take Novak.  All his numbers are in limited minutes, but he looked real good in those limited minutes last year.  And his 3% and eFG were through the roof.

Fine as roster filler, hope he suddenly develops some ability to defend and rebound even a little so that he can play enough to take advantage of his shooting.  Novak looks like a better shooting, worse at everything else Jason Smith.  What kind of conditions are on that 2010 second rounder we received from Minny in the Carney deal?  If it is fairly useless then that can be our future considerations.

Jason Smith gets abused defensively and doesn't do much offensively.  Novak will get abused defensively but will hit the 3 on offense.  It's tough to judge what Novak can do given real minutes because he's never had them.

Novak's a specialist. Jason Smith is by far the better player. Better rebounder, better offensive skill set, and while not a good overall defender, he'll at least block some shots. The best thing about Novak is that he can come in cold and be on, so he wouldn't need minutes to get into rhythm.

Form Iguodala's Blog: http://iguodala9.com/blog.html

Not exactly Hibach-worthy reading, but also less !!! than Thad's blog.

Quote
Wednesday, July 16 - I'm sitting in my Chicago condo watching the new episode of Run's House (I love that show) and listening to N*E*R*D's album Seeing Sounds. Chicago has been my offseason grounds since I've been in the league.

I haven't been doing much lately besides working out and travelling. I had the chance to see the rookie Mareese Speights while in Vegas for summer league, he's better than I expected. But back in Chicago I just go through on court drills, lift weights, and ride around Rush St. and Michigan Ave. the rest of the day. My workouts consist of many, many jumpshots, mainly working on a quicker and higher realease.

I'm sure everyone wants to know what's going on with my contract situation. Everything is kinda in slow motion right now, which is for the most part normal for all restricted free agents. Teams come in and out of play each day and my agent and I are taking our time to see how things develop with the Sixers and around the league. The Elton Brand deal was huge and I feel he will be a huge addition. The opportunity to play with a dominant low post player still in his prime will be exciting.

I'm heading back to Vegas to play with the select team to help the senior USA national team prepare for Beijing. I won't be able to scrimmage due to the contract situation, but I made a commitment to participate so I will be there going through drill work. It is one of my ultimate goals to be an olympian so I think it is important to see the process of the USA team getting ready to take back the gold...
