Ye 'Ole Tribute/Vid Thread
« on: July 05, 2008, 03:23:47 PM »
This place needs some mojo given how FA has gotten some people down.

I'll get it started with this Lou/Thad/Iguodala "Philly, the future is bright" vid:

Great Lou highlights, not enough Young.  Overall I give it a 9/10.

BTW, is there a way to embed vids here?

Funny parts- they chose to open with a closeup on WG?  Also, a "highlight reel" dunk by Booth 8)

Overall I give the vid a 7.5/10.

The Top 100 Iguodala Dunks

I'm not a big fan of the first song... I think for a dunk video I would go with something like AC/DC's Thunderstruck but I still think it's entertaining. We were spoiled with AI's highlights for so long that I don't think we appreciate Iguodala's as much as we should. The kid seriously is a Human Highlight Reel.

Courtesy of Fixer, the Speights pre-draft workout tape (2nd half)

Nothing special, but he looks to be in great shape, and a really amazing athlete.  Also, Ford mentions how Speights shut down Alexander in the 3:3 game, attesting to his quick feet and ability to cover SF's on switches.

I will paste the link to the archived full Florida BB games later.

Yeah.  He looked in good shape in that video.  showed off his explosiveness too (that move with about 10 seconds left was nice).  But he also showed a really sloppy handle.  His face-up game (outside of jumpers) is probably his weakest point offensively.

As you pointed out before, one of the intriguing things about Speights is that most of his on the court faults are correctable.  The skills, size and athleticism are all there, but still raw.  Sort of like Thad's handle and skills/potential as a wing player.

After watching game film, I am flat out amazed that a guy with his length, frame and quickness was not a to 50 guy out of high school.  Not to mention that he has great form on his jumper and post moves.  He must have been coached up well, and also must have put some work into his game.  I am not blind to his weaknesses, but its hard not to be giddy about his potential considering where he was drafted.  The guy has the potential to be both a classic big, low post PF and yet be an athletic open court and trapping player.

Speights looked extremely explosive in that video... almost Carney in that he seems to get up really quick. I really do have high hopes of him becoming the future PF of this team but I question when that time will come.
