Summer League
« on: July 02, 2008, 07:48:09 PM »
According to a poster on realgm, the Summer league rosters are as follows:

31 Edin Bavcic ........... F 6-10 230 6/5/84 Bosnia R
11 Pat Carroll ........... G 6-5 190 9/10/82 St. Joseph's'05 R
51 Callistus Eziukwu ..... F-C 6-10 220 7/3/85 Grand Valley State'08 R
41 Sherman Gay ........... F 6-7 195 7/12/82 Loyola Marymount'04 R
18 Jamont Gordon ......... G 6-4 225 3/16/87 Mississippi St.'09 R
4 Junior Harrington ..... G 6-4 190 10/2/80 Wingate'02 3
17 Jawann McClellan ...... G 6-4 204 12/14/85 Arizona'08 R
50 Jared Reiner .......... C 6-11 245 4/8/82 Iowa'04 2
40 Dawan Robinson ........ G 6-3 195 2/10/82 Rhode Island'06 R
14 Jason Smith ........... F 7-0 240 3/2/86 Colorado State'08 1
16 Marreese Speights ..... F-C 6-10 245 8/4/87 Florida'10 R
21 Thaddeus Young ........ F 6-8 220 6/21/88 Georgia Tech'10 1

Surprised (sorta) not to see Carney's name there, but pleasantly surprised to see Gordon there, hopefully we be able to sign him with the minimum or something after our splash (don't know whether this is possible under the salary cap), he's a combo guard but a lot stronger than Lou and they would complement each other pretty well, IMO. I'd definitely give him a look. ES has also talked numerous times about needed a third string PG and I hope his name will be J. Gordon.

Must be weird for Thaddeus, after playing and starting in the playoffs going back to the SL. I would predict godly stats for him, were it not for the fact that we have several forwards on the roster that need the SL PT more than him.

Surprised not to see Herbert Hill's name on that list.  I figured he's AT LEAST get a roster spot on the summer league squad.  I also expected to get my first look at Ricky Sanchez.

Young needs to work on his wing game- so I'm glad he's playing.

Hope our PG's are good enough to keep the offense running, otherwise it will be a waste for our bigs.

Also am very disappointed but not shocked that there is no Hill.

I guess Amundson will dominate on some other team.

Well, well, well... Edin will be on the team with his unibrow. Hopefully some of the games will be webcast.

Gordon is an interesting name, especially if Stefanski finds a way to move Green.

Some more information on my new favorite player, Callistus "Bean" Eziukwu.  The guy was undefeated this year in the GLIAC:

Shows some nice athleticism in his YouTube highlights, including some range on his shots if you keep watching:

Before the draft he was worked out by Portland Detroit and the Sixers (twice) and is named after his Dad:

Bean looks like the Shaq of the GLIAC.

Makes me almost forget Kebu Stuart.

I wonder if he'll name his son Kobe?

Slightly OT, but Beasley and Rose squared off today in the Orlando Summer League. Beasley impressed me quite a bit, Rose not so much. Just as a heads up, orlandomagic.com will legally stream Orlando Summer league games (The Nets and the Sex in the City fan will be up in a bit), and nba.com will probably stream our SL games online too.

I hope so.  I also hope the games are archived for later viewing (and to put in the time capsule of great NBA Summer League moments.)

I will miss watching Lou and Lou light it up like last season.

Who would of thunk there'd be so many fires in a place without water.  Either a cruel joke on humanity or a bad choice by developers...

Seriously, the wildfires suck, and looks like it will be a huge nightmare into the fall.
