Board Guidelines/conduct- Now O.T. and Adrift
« on: July 02, 2008, 02:08:32 PM »
I'm glad this board seems to be taking off with a good collection of posters.  It is Derek Bodner's board, so the rules are up to him.  He is also the one who decides whether a poster can stay or go.

Basically we want to have this a a place relatively frree of personal arguements and thread hijacking that sometimes plagues other sites.  Also, try and keep this relatively safe for work (but language is not a big issue.)

Although this is not a private or secret board please do not invite any "problem posters."  if you are unclear just ask DBodner.

I will leave it to DBodner to list any other specific rules and arbitrate any problems if they occor.

I really thought this place was going to wither on the vine.  My bad- there is no shortage of people wanting to flee the crap hijackers that poison the other boards.  What's the saying about a few bad seeds or rotten apples?

BTW- I am not a moderator here, and any issues are up to DBodner.  I just think it is in everyones interest to keep this place a haven form BS.

And if Sdnedem or Ricky or someone similar decides to post under a different name and mend there ways I'm sure there is no sort of I.P. police on the look-out.  Unfortunately I doubt they could post like a normal person fpr long, and would be easily weeded out.  That's the advantage of having a benevolent dictator.

Based on the group of people here... I don't think there will be any problems since most of us have chatted with each other on another forum. Then again, if Jem keeps defending David Thorpe... things could get pretty intense around here. :-)

By the way... what's the deal with ranks? I'm a Sr. Member already?

Any chance we can change or update the rank names on this board. I have no ideas to what but it's just a suggestion. Anyone have any ideas for ranks???

My only rule is respect.  If everyone's respectful, there aren't any problems.

I do ask to keep threads on topic.  That being said, I don't have a problem with OT threads being made (just label them OT in the subject).

I do agree not to post pornographic images or anything of the sort.  But I think that's kinda common sense, considering most/all of us work in an office environment.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Sounds like a good rule to me.

Common sense and respect are not exactly the staples of most boards- but I'm sure it will work here as long as we quickly boot any people who seem to be lacking in either respect.

Again the benefit of a dictatorship.  I also think it might be good if things do get busy to consider giving some kind of mod power to TGP as well so that any problems can be swiftly nipped in the bud.- but that is obviously not my decision.

I honestly don't think we need mods at this point.  In fact, I don't think we need moderation at all (myself included).  I mean, it would be pointless to "strip" me of admin privs, as it I could always edit a post directly through the database if I really wanted to, but I don't think we should need mods for anything other than stickying threads.

If we do, we can deal with that at that time.

No porn?  I'm outa here.

I think I'm a rarity here in that my office is located right in the comfort of my home.... but don't worry, I'll keep it PG-13 for everyone.

If people are coming to a Sixers board for porn, they need to learn how to use the internet.

OK, that is not even funny, kind of like when someone mentioned Sharone Wright last week, some things are better left unsaid.  :P

Again the benefit of a dictatorship.

If Dabods starts calling you his "young apprentice" I am going to be very freaked out.  Last night you were quoting yourself in posts, I really think this whole free agency period is starting to wreak havoc on your mind dude.
