RIP Dallas Mavs (2001-2008)
« on: April 29, 2008, 08:23:15 PM »
Looks like they are going to lose in the first round to an inexperienced team AGAIN.   No doubt in my mind that the Dallas Mavericks as we know them are done.  Cuban is going to blow up this team with a stick of dynamite.   AJ is gone and so will Josh Howard.  Jason Kidd has to be on the chopping block some how.  George is going to leave.  Jason Terry might be one of the only players on this squad that could be packaged to get a decent player.  Only person I see staying is Dirk and even then.....

The end of the game exchange between Stackhouse and David West sums up a major Dallas problem.....they are soft and have no poise.  Stackhouse smacks CP3 cuz he is frustrated and David West let's him know not to mess with his teammate by getting in his face.  If that and the David West face smack of Dirk doesn't define this squad in the playoffs the past few years I don't know what does.   RIP.  They gave us some entertaining basketball over the years..

If not for those two T's the series might be going back to Dallas.  I agree with you completely, the Mavs are going to get blown up.  They might rebuild around Dirk or maybe even go further.

With the meltdown they still only needed a reboung off the missed Hornets shot at 97-94 six seconds left.  Could not believe they came back from -10 and got that close only to fail to get the rebound for the would-be game tie game trey.

Yea, you had Kidd trying to box out the 7 foot Chandler.

They've melted down against the quality teams in the Western Conference like 9-10 times in the second half of the season.  Personally I was not surprised, I expected it!

Besides the Suns, specifically Nash and Diaw, had the biggest chokes of the night in crunch time.

Not surprised, shocked, saddened, or anything other than gleeful. Cuban's smug look gone for another year, a bad trade I called when it went down, another experiment I said was doomed to failure, that, Phoenix's ABSOLUTE total implosion, (as I predicted) and LA's DOMINATING the only other team softer than Dallas and my prognosticating skills are demonstrated to be superior to most mere mortals. I only need Detroit to finish off Philly and board ownage is mine. (Sorry Derek, Minnie Me, my ownage of the board is more important than your team advancing)

I'm sorry, was I gloating too much?

Congrats X3, Lurker, good win, see you in the Finals.

Come on Ted, Joe, Skander, jOLDmal, we appreciate the rest but this is ridiculous.

It's too bad that Avery gets the blame for this fiasco -- Cuban is just as much to blame.  Trading Harris and Diop was a HUGE mistake but I don't see that as AJ's fault -- that goes solely on the shoulders of Cuban.  Cuban likes to tinker with this team and he tinkered one too many times.  It's been a pretty clear fact that Dampier disappears in games that count -- and look what he did in the playoffs this year.  I think they had a chance against NO with Harris and Diop -- far better than with Kidd, IMO.

AJ has to take part of the blame for last year -- as a coach, it's his responsibility to get his team ready.  However, Dirk deserves more blame than anyone -- he let Jackson get in his head and as the team leader, he didn't lead.  Cuban doesn't want any of the blame to go to Dirk or himself and both are as much to blame as AJ, IMO.

If Cuban thinks that simply changing coaches will make the difference, good luck.  Carlisle would be my choice for this team but he won't take them much further than AJ did, IMO.

Dallas needs more than a coaching change, the team should be blown up, because it can't win.  Dirk is a good piece to build around, but the rest of them are pretty useless. Something happened to Josh Howard, he looked so good last year, but now, he appears ordinary.

The trade for Kidd was very shortsighted and has exposed Kidd as no longer on of the better Points in the league.  He just can't score well enough, or play defense well enough to not be a liability.  The Mavericks were better before.

Josh Howard's problem is that he started trying to be Kobe Bryant and turned into Tracy McGrady on a bad night.

He destroyed us once when he got hot (something like 49 points or some ridiculous number) but most of the time he's hucking up ill-advised jumpers. At least that's what I've seen lately.

By trying to be Kobe do you mean this: http://drunkathlete.com/2007/03/31/josh-howard-having-way-too-much-fun.aspx  I wonder if the picture was taken somewhere in the Colorado?

Cuban needs to stick to Internet/Computers....

He wants to replace a coach who is awesome in the regular season but sucks BAD in the playoffs......with?  A coach who is awesome in the regular season but sucks BAD in the playoffs.
