On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

Rookie of the Year:  Durant -- he has been that good this year (although Horford has had a great year and is close.  Scola has come on in the 2nd half of the season and been fantastic but he had a slow start).

Sixth Man of the Year Award: Well, Manu has this all wrapped up if you count him as a 6th man -- I'm not sure how many games you have to start in order to get removed from consideration.

Coach of the Year:  Byron Scott, IMO.  He and Paul have led this squad to overachieve.

Most Improved Player of the Year:  I'm going to choose an unlikely candidate -- Hedo Turkoglu.  Hedo is having an outstanding year -- while his minutes are up, his stats reflect even more than just the added minutes.  He is definately having more of an impact than Rashard Lewis is -- perhaps defenses are focusing on Howard and Shard first allowing Hedo more space.  But his rebound, ppg, assists and 3pt% have all gone up -- he is having a career year and it's showing in the Magic W/L column.

Defensive Player of the Year:  I'm going with KG -- not so much because of individual stats but because of what Boston has done as a team defensively and KG is the anchor.

Coach of the Year: The no-longer Idleman, "Adelman"

Homer.  How can this not be Byron Scott?  The BumbleBees are set up to win the West in a year that the conference is arguably the most competitive ever.  If they end the season top of the West, it's hands down B Scott.

Most Improved Player of the Year: The Unhearda, "Udruh"

Homer x 2

I actually agree with all of Randy's picks so that saves me some typing.

Rookie of the Year:  Durant, unless Luis Scola turns in monster games leading to Houstons advancement in the seedings.

Sixth Man of the Year Award: Please.

Coach of the Year:  Lets see how it ends.  Scott, Adleman and Sloan still within striking distance of seeding change.  Sloan and Utahs road record the deal killer if they finish below the other two.

Most Improved Player of the Year:  I would agree Beno Undies.

Defensive Player of the Year:  Bowen.

Big time Byron Scott fan here....

.......<okay, you have convinced me>  Man, msc, you can be so persuasive with your astute arguments. You should go into poly-tics.

WooHoo a sweep!

The question was about awards not what others will do to the Lakers in the playoffs.

Rookie of the Year: Durant

Sixth Man of the Year Award: Manu

Coach of the Year: Will Doc win his second?  Before Sloan gets one?  IMO this is the toughest choice after MVP and I would pick Cheeks for the job he has done in Philly.

Most Improved Player of the Year: By NBA guidelines Hedo doesn't qualify...this is suppose to be an award for up & coming players.  So I pick Hedo who is most deserving.

Defensive Player of the Year: IMO KG will win but I don't see any difference in his intensity between Minny and Boston.  He just has a better team and better defensive asst coach in Boston.  My vote goes to Duncan for lifetime achievement...just like Kobe's MVP trophy this year.

That's because of the time difference.  I posted it two hours ago but it took that long to show up in California.
