Marion to seek extension from Heat?
« on: March 26, 2008, 11:29:27 AM »
I couldn't find the thread where the Marion / Heat situation was being discussed so I just made a new one.

Shawn Marion  played about as well as the Heat could have expected before his recent back spasms, but their relationship will be tested this summer. Though Marion and agent Dan Fegan aren't ready to discuss their intentions, this much is clear: Marion would like to clarify his future this summer and is expected to ask the Heat for an extension beyond the remaining year on his contract. But it's difficult to envision the Heat making that commitment. The Heat privately has indicated a willingness to speak to Marion about a multiyear deal, but it would be surprising if it happens because Miami covets salary-cap space in 2009.

Now that Cuban is back in spending mode, he'd be a PERFECT fit with the Mavs, once that hack Avery gets fired of course.  If he were to join the Warriors or Spurs those teams would terrorized the league.  Bron Bron should push the Cavs hard as well.  I'm not sure what the expiring contracts are like on those teams but it seems like the Heat would listen to a sign and trade for Marion and some expiring contracts.  Maybe the Lakers can resign Kwame to a one year deal and land Marion? ;)
