kobe wants jerry west or.....else
« on: May 27, 2007, 06:44:41 PM »
Kobe has demanded that the Lakers hire Jerry West and give him full control over personel changes or he wants to be traded.   The urgency to get players has been hightened as Odom and Kwame both need surgery that will keep them from playing the first part of the season.  Odom could be out really long.

Opinions/thoughts?

Personally I want Mitch to go and have for a while now...but this is cry babyish for him to be so extreme.

If true...then this is different than Shaq yelling "Pay me!" at Buss how?

I sure wish I could tell my boss (business owner) how to run our office.  I'm sure it would help my morale and make me want to stay instead of looking elsewhere.

Yeah, too bad for Kobe, but Jerry wants to retire from being a GM.  He left the Grizzlies, where he was left alone because he was tired of it, and you think he wants to go back to LA and listen to Buss and Kobe again?  Jerry's done dealing with the ego's and stupidity.

LA Times reporting Monday:
Bryant said he did not link his future with the Lakers to the hiring of West, as ESPN.com reported Sunday. He has not asked for a trade and did not foresee seeking one if West was not hired.

"I would love for him to be a part of this," Bryant said. "But it's not something where I demand he comes here. All I can do is offer my thoughts. I love being a Laker. I want to retire a Laker. I want to fix this thing, or at least help any way I can."

espn -for now- is sticking by Buchers initial report:
Bryant told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that he wants the Lakers to bring West back to the organization and give him full authority. If the Lakers don't want to do that, Bryant said he wants to be traded.

However, Bryant told The Los Angeles Times that he was just making a suggestion and wasn't demanding a trade if West wasn't brought back.

Los Angeles County ER units are asking all residents of the Laker House and the entire Laker Nation to remain calm.  Specialy trained Units have been dispatched with chamomile tea, posters of Magic and extra supplies of Laker Winnin Juice.  The public is asked to help any dissolusioned wandering Lakers by rendering aid until such units can come by.

What's the reputation of the guy from MSNBC?  Is he legit or another Vercesy?  Where both stories a direct quote from Kobe or just the reporters interpretation?

OK, just read the articles.  Trade me or else is being "reported" by while Kobe denying those comments are directly from Kobe.  I guess I'm not buying the "trade me or else" drama today.

Probably goes to how the questions were asked...

Q: If Jerry West does not return to the Lakers would you like to be traded to a contender?

A: I would love to have a chance to win another ring.

Interpretation: Kobe would seek a trade if Jerry West does not return to the Lakers.

More like:

Q: (screaming from a crowd of reporters): Kobe, what if the Lakers don't bring back West?
A: Sorry guys, gotta run, I got a flight to Utah to catch a game

MSNBC is "REPORTING" blah blah blah

"REPORTING" = blah blah blah

Where is the quote of what Kobe said?  It probably doesn't exist.

W.O.W., Lakers and Laker cousin lurker,
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2884339

Ric Bucher of espn is the initial source.  He is known for not spinning and is generally a Kobme and Laker supporter.  Does sound like he went sprinting for the print sheet instead of giving Kobme 24 hrs to change his stance.  Kobe was probably moody and crampy when he made the comments.  Bucher should have been more sensitive and allowing.

Reality the initial report read "Is Kobe saying Trade-Me without saying Trade-Me?"  And then went in how he said he wants the Lakers to make moves and not wait around.  Then within a few hours the story and title had been changed, same spot same site but changed.  It kind of started off sounding like a rumor similar to...

'Is Eva ready for ex- Mario Lopez to come back into her life without saying she wants ex-Mario Lopez to come back into her life'

I was just pushing on what I saw when I was bored playing around on my cell phone (Charles Barkley is in my fav 5)
