This is horrible - how is this justice.
« on: January 19, 2006, 11:13:20 AM »
This poor boy was found on Christmas dead because of starvation. NOBODY in this family came to the boys aid, an Aunt for instance saw him TAPED to his bed and weak and she did not do anything because they said he was being punished for being bad - HE WAS HUNGRY!!   horrible people they should be roting in prison and yet the mother is being let go.  This is why Child Protective Services in SA got into HUGE trouble in the news because here they are persecuting parents who are punishing thier children in normal ways and yet they ignore parents of the real kids that need help.  In this case, they went to the house once or twice and knocked on the door to investigate, got no answer, left, and paid it no mind after that.  What kind of message does this send??  this is injustice.  The mother is said to not have had Jovonie in her custody when it happenned, but that is because of problems with her and her boyfriend or husband or whatever he was to her, She still should not be excused from all of this - SHE DID KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENNING WITH THE CHILD AND SHE ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN.

Mother Of Boy Starved To Death To Go Free

SAN ANTONIO -- The mother of a 4-year-old boy who died on Christmas Day in 2003 from severe abuse and starvation was scheduled for release from prison on Thursday.

Lisa Ochoa served two years in prison after accepting a plea bargain from the Bexar County District Attorney's Office on charges of abandonment and child endangerment in connection with the death of her son, Jovonie Ochoa.

Jovonie's uncle, Geronimo Esqueda; his aunt, Delores Esqueda; and his grandfather, Juan Palacios, all were given the maximum of 10 years in prison.

They pleaded guilty to charges of injury to a child and bodily injury.

Authorities alleged the five relatives denied the boy food by restraining him to a bed in the boy's grandparents' home for months.

Rebecca Vasquez, Jovonie's Godmother, said she believes Liza Ochoa's sentence was a slap in the face to Jovonie.

"Jovonie's life was 4 years, and she had to serve less than half this time," said Vasquez.

Vazquez said she also has concerns about Liza Ochoa's release from prison.

"My biggest fear is she'll come out and people will accept her for a person that's done her time, and they'll allow her to live with children and let her have more children, if she wants to," said Vazquez.

Jovonie weighed 16 pounds when he died on Christmas Day 2003.
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

It isn't justice at all, IMO.

You CAN do something about it.  Find out the Judge's name.  Write to the paper about him, not just a letter to the editor, but to writers as well, who will give the story staying power.

I assume that Judges at his level are elected.  You might want to go to any rally he has and ask him how he could let a mother do that to her child.

Isn't this the type of thing the Christian right would jump on?  Isn't starving a four-year old at least as much of a moral wrong as they think abortion is?  Starving someone to death is one of the cruelest forms of punishement imaginable.

There is something severly wrong with this familly and their sensibilities.  Their perpective on life is crime against nature.  The one virtue is they will not successfully pass on their genes to another generation if they continue to kill their progeny.
