In a league that is often rife with obnoxious, me-first personalities, Vermeil attained the highest levels of accomplishment (SuperBowl win St Lowie Rams and SuperBowl appearance Philly Eagles) but most importantly did it with class.

Vermeil showed you don't have to be some barking insensitive dipstick like the prototypical football coach, or be a selfish pig who does not care about players.

Props to you.  Granted, the Chiefs were an offensive jaggernaut with The Priest etc, but close didn't count in 2003.  Still it was nearly another Bowl appearance.

Thanks for the memories.

.......and props to Doug Flutie.  First player since World War II to convert a drop kick.  I will never forget the BC - Miami game in 1984, and he caps off his career with a drop kick.  Class guy, I always liked how he never gave up.

And props to Saints owner Tom Benson.  What a clas ... oops.  Wait a minute.

PS - Is there a city with shittier owners than New Orleans?  I mean, come on!  Tom Benson and George Shin have to walk all over the competition in that category.

Maybe hurricane Katrina really *WAS* trying to wipe New Orleans off the map.  What do you know - God really *IS* a sports fan!

Dick deserves his props.  A great coach who managed to accomplish some great things with his teams.

His players were all very loyal, which says something about his character.

Very decent man, but a little emotionally unbalanced.  It's hard to accept a NFL coach crying.  THERE's NO CRYING IN FOOTBALL!!!!   :eek2:

I think Vermeil has a condition that makes him cry so often.  Really.  Didn't he have a mini stroke or take heart medication or something?

Or is he just warm and fuzzy?
