Spree to don Purple n Gold?

Probably a Nugget but Spree may opt to become a Laker.  Laker posters I'm one of the ones who think the Lakeshow has a chance to return to marketing glory in 2008-9-10 but oh how you've got to love the here and now.  Spree.  He fits what many of you have for main  criteria (1. go for starters minutes over any chance for a title with say...Detroit)

Agent says Sprewell interested in Denver
By Adam Thompson
Denver Post Staff Writer

The Nuggets have seen a boatload of free-agent shooting guards end up at other addresses this summer. But after teams passed him by as well, Latrell Sprewell seems high on Denver.

Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe confirmed talking to Gist. Gist said Sprewell, who also considers the Los Angeles Lakers a desirable destination, would contact coach George Karl in the near future.

Denver can pay no more than the $5 million midlevel exception, which Gist called "hard to digest," but he added Sprewell could be inclined to take it.

"He made it clear that he could not see coming off the bench in Detroit and fitting in there," Gist said. "Not with (his) legs and   basketball IQ and love for the game."  :bs:  :puke:

I think Spree would be lucky to get picked up by anybody.  He's more trouble than he's worth, and a malcontent besides.

I think Jackson in LA would rather not have to deal with another ego maniac at this point.  By the time LA is ready to make a run, Spree will probably be too old anyway.

Incidentally, it's not in the Lakers best interests to win, if they want to stockpile a few decent players through the draft.  The Lakers faithfull may have trouble accepting their team being a perenial in the lottery for a few years, though.

Or we could petition Stern to allow the Lakers to move to the EC -- then they would be in the playoffs every year no matter how badly they played -- even if they were under .500 ball!   :D

All true.  Article says Gist (Sprees agent) "considers the Los Angeles Lakers a desirable destination."  Nothing about Phildo and Kobe pursuing him.

Perhaps Spree wants to be a *bad* rapper, thus L.A.  It worked for Shaq.  He could get Mark Madsen to be one of his dancers on a video.  I love LA.

Please, oh please, oh please, OH PLEASE let Sprewell go to the Lakers.

Not Denver.  Denver could be good.  Please let him be a Laker.

Spree may sign with the Lakers; Cassell has already signed with the Clippers.

Competing malcontents dominate the SoCal airwaves.

On top of all the other issues facing these teams, do they really need this? And that does not even go to the real problem with these two - that their current and future playing ability is hardly as good as it once was.
