Right now they have Jacoby potentially going to
the Reds at #12
Padres at #18
A's at #21 (I always thought this was a high probability)
Marlins at #22
Red Sox at #23 (they say if he is available he goes there)

I also think that Yankees would look long and hard as he could fit as a replacement for Bernie Williams, and they select at #17.

I am hoping for a West Coast team, or the Tigers (A fan for 35 years), or an elite team like the Red Sox, or the Skankies.

Only thing that is a big question mark is that a number of the high picks from last year (Drew, Weaver and a couple of others) haven't signed yet.  If they don't sign before the draft then he will probably fall a little.

They are into a regional/sub-regional and then it is a to keep on playing you have to keep on winning.  I am not sure of the exact format.  Right now they are #8 in the country, highest ever for the Beavers.

I have also been hearing rumors that Seattle at #3 is very interested, which for a NW boy would be fabulous.  Spring training in Arizona, and 5 hour drive to Seattle.

Beavers at #8!?  Is this an all time high?

This has got to help Jacobys exposure.

Beavers advance to Super Regional vs SoCal after going 3-0 in sub.
Glad they got Ohio State 4-3 in opener before routing the other two.
Zig I can't find any stats on these games other then the final score.  Sounds like whatever Jacoby Ellsbury did, it was a total team effort.

SoCal has given them a few probs, i think they lost the series to them?
Just more motivation for this best of three.

Oregon State ranked #2

zig.  Update.  Beavers will host SoCal in a best of three.  It can't get any better then this for OSU history.  Other then advancing past SC which has got to happen, right.  2-1 is fine, SoCal is good no matter what.

Jacoby going 23rd.  Whatever, still 1st round so that will be some good $$, altho upper 1st half gets way more.  The draft is not an exact science.  Bottom line he is in with a winning organization.

I have been traveling, so I missed the CWS games in Corvallis.  My brother went though, and he said Jacoby did very well, 3-6 in the final game, with a triple and 3 rbi.

I am totally stoked about the draft.  It is just amazing to me that this kid that I havce watched for 10+ years being drafted in the first round.  A first round draft pick from our little wide spot in the highway!!  That is awesome.
I am really happy for him.  He wanted to play for the Sox.  He liked playing in the Cape Cod League, and the Sox are known for paying better than average bonuses.

He should have 2 years at least in the minors, and then he will get his shot at the big leagues.  The scouting reports compare him to Johnny Damon, with a better swing, and more speed.  That is a ringing endorsement!!

1-0.  Zig that game was much closer then the final score & stats indicate.

SCs pitcher, BTW the Pac 12 Pitcher of the Year, was burned by like 6 (six!) errors in losing a 4-1 lead.

Good late close by OSU.
I'm gonna tape tonights game and watch Jacob more closely.

SC's defense vaporized.  They had 8 errors, of every possible variety.  Jacoby was pressing a bit, and struggled a bit with the breaking pitches.  He made a couple of really nice throws from the OF, and hit a laser beam shot that was foul by just a few feet.
Starts at 6:00 pm PDT on ESPN2.

This series is all about defense, or more precisly the lack there of.  USC made "8" errors on Saturday, and OSU "4" on Sunday.  Second baseman dropped a pop up, right fielder dropped a fly ball, third baseman made a bone head on a bunt.  It was clear these kids had some serious jitters.

Jacoby stole third without a throw.  The USC catcher is the best in nation, but he didn't have a chance, didn't even attempt a throw.  That left OSU with runners at 1st and 3rd, and the runner at first got picked that lead into a run down.  USC made a quick look at 3rd, causing Jacoby to dive back, and then Jacoby got up and exploded home.  This kid has incredible speed.  We are talking NFL WR or CB speed.

zig.  bummer.  I was glued to Spurs game so i only got parts of the Beavers.
When it went into the 10th i snoozed.

Saw the 9th inning rightfielder play.     Too bad because i saw the shortstop make a fantastic dive n throw for out #1 to keep it down to  8-7.  (Had the ball gotten thru both score easily for 8-8)  I did think that little lefty shaved head reliever was off tho.  Even with the errors, he just didn't have it to close.
And the OSU bats in 9 and 10.

Wow I wish i would have taped now to see those Jacoby runs.
What do you foresee for today?  I think with college kids its hard to predict.  SC certainly has history.  What about the pitching matchup?

Whew.  They like drama, don't they?

Bottom 8th that was a solid at bat for Jacoby.  I'll bet the pitcher wanted that last pitch to him back tho.  3-4 on the day with a walk also.  Scored what amounted to the winning run (9th OSU run).  Good day for him.

OSU doged a huge bullet IMO when SoCal had men on 2nd and 3rd no outs down 10-7.  Props to Jacoby for the sac fly throw on the play that scored SoCals 8th run.  While routine, it was huge to keep that would-be 9th run at 2nd base.  Like the way he positioned and hurried the throw in.  Next SoCal at batter, SoCals big gun catcher really bailed the OSU reliever out by swinging at that pitch for out #2.  Looked like a ball for 3-1 count.

Omaha!

The Beavs #2 ranking and 46-10 record draws......

zig Overall #1 Tulane vs #2 OSU in the opening round game of the CWS :nonono:
Meanwhile Tennessee (19 losses) vs Florida (20 losses)

Who rigged that?

Oh well, to be the best you should have to beat the best.  So it happens in the opening round.  But i find that braketting fishy.

zig,

Bottom 7th OSU ahead 1-0.

bogus call

OSU third baseman fields bunt, hurls to 2nd for 1st out of would-be double play.
Tulane baserunner grabs him on hip with right hand AND slides way past 2nd base.  Superb replays by ESPN.  NOT allowable in college ball on double play situations.  Refs have heads up ass, do not call both runners out as is supposed to be the auto-call on offensive interference.  This after the refs huddle.  Tulane goes on to score 2 in the inning to go up 2-1. :nonono:

Great field by the OSU catcher (same inning) on the short hop throw from OSU r fielder to nail the Tulaney at the plate.

Props to the Tulane r fielder for that bases loaded catch in the 6th or so.

4-3 Baylor.
zig that was just flat sad.

6th inning sending of Gipson when there were no outs.  :nonono:  to end up being nailed at the plate.

Couldn't buy a clutch hit.
