Can Michael Doleac backup Shraq?
« on: January 24, 2005, 03:26:31 PM »
Heat are sitting pretty, still they are .500 vs WC and about the same vs top ECs.
Winning a lot of close games.  From what I've seen tho its a big drop off when Doleac comes in for Shaq.  Right playoff series that could be the difference.

Think Shraq will hold up 40+ minutes in playoffs.  Or will 35 + Doleac work?

Christian Laettner putting in 15 min a game on the Conferences best record team.  Who would've thought?...

Depends on who they're playing against.  In the Playoffs where the teams are deeper, they'll need more Shaq.  Doleac is really a pretty steady thug.  Boxes out, rebounds and can even shoot.

Expect Shaq to play more minutes in the playoffs -- he is being rested at this point (and Miami is winning with that rest for the most part) but expect Shaq to play heavy minutes in the playoffs.  He IS capable of doing it for the playoffs -- limiting him for the regular season is just REALLY smart coaching, IMO.

I think Doleac will be an adequate back-up for Shaq.  Then again, I've liked Doleac since he broke into the league in 1999 with Orlando.
