I REALLY wish we could get back to talking basketball!  You really want to open up the whole Roe vs. Wade here?

When does life begin?  Our courts are FULL of cases contradicting itself.

How many times has a person been under the influence, struck a car and killed the mother and unborn child -- then has been charged with the taking of TWO lives -- however, that same woman COULD have aborted that very same life the next day -- only they would call it "tissue" and a "woman's choice."

The courts SHOULDN'T be allowed to interpret our constitution based on their political persuasion -- this is something the American people should vote on, not be left to the courts.

There will be a HUGE voter turnout by demo's and minorities, Kerry will win the popular vote by 1 million plus, but he will lose the election by the electoral college vote.

If Kerry gets elected, and you have uttered the words "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth", and "documentary" in the same sentance within a month of the election, then start packing your warm clothes, because there is a gulag cell with your name on it somewhere in western North Dakota. :bash:

Actually, I agree with the electoral college -- if we do away with the electoral college, future presidents will be elected by urban cities/areas that can produce higher voter turnout.  I might add that corruption is much higher in these areas than rural ones (voter fraud, etc.).  

Also, states like Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana, etc. will get ZERO representation because presidential candidates will no longer care about their state, their needs, etc.

We need a president that represents the country at large, not just large urban cities.

However, Kerry won't win by a million votes -- that's for certain!

The only thing I will say about the most boring debate to date is that I liked John Kerry's response about not trying to force his beliefs on people by passing a law banning abortions.  That issue is a big one to me because of personal reasons.  Bush did a better job last night than the previous nights...except for that one butt in he had.  Jesus tho, could both of them dance around questions on issues they are weak on anymore than they did last night?

As much as Randy and I have disagree'd in the past month I agree its time to get back to more basketball talk than anything else.  Although I do like the occasional political thread, not to argue, but to see other peoples opinions from other areas.  Randy lives in Seattle.  I just moved from LA to Orange County.  Lurker, x3, and 101 are from Texas.  Jn is from Minny.  Ted is from Mars.  We all live in different areas and have different points of view on the direction things need to go, I like that.  I rarely get to talk to people about nationwide issues who are not from Southern California.

Actually, I no longer live in Seattle but I agree with the rest of your sentiments.

My only problem with the abortion issue is that a COURT has decided the issue and it has ZERO to do with any interpretation of the Constitution.  I can live with what the people want -- it's hard to live with what a politician or a judge wants.

I like the non-b-ball threads, except when Randy is bitching and moaning about "off topic" threads.  (Do I really need to spell out my sense of humor anymore?)

I agree westkoast, I enjoy speaking with the peasants who are not fortunate enough to live in So-Cal.  Even the little "tards" from Texass make me giggle once in a while.

IMO abortion is wrong but so is telling someone what they can or cannot do with their own bodies.  IMO life begins when the sperm and egg meet and form that initial bond that prevents other sperm cells from entering the egg.  If we found a sperm cell on Mars we would call it life so it can be argued from other points, those points would be wrong of course, my definition is correct.  

sperm + egg = something that is no longer a sperm or egg but a totally different dynamic, imo it is life.  Having four kids it's beyond my comprehension how you can KILL a soon to be baby but it's not for me NOR the gov or religious nuts to decide for others.

If the abortion laws are repealed the rich will still get their and the poor will have to resort to drastic measures JUST like what happened in the past in THIS country.

IMO Kerry will win the popular vote but will probably be cheated out of the presidency like Bore err Gore was last time.
