As I am sure was probably no surprise to any of you, the Rockets (more specifically Jeff Van Gundy) signed "Cholie Wahd."
The Rockets also signed Bob Sura.
story link.........Now I like these moves because they sign two decent PG's to fill the obvious hole in the offense, and add a little depth, all at the same time.
But here is where it gets a little more interesting......
Radio reports in Chicago insist that Dikembe Mutombo will be traded to the Rockets for swingman Eric Piatkowski. According to them, the deal will be finalized in the coming days, after what was then the correctly predicted signings of Ward and Sura.
Mutombo would presumably fill the role of Yao's backup temporarily. This was from the Chicago Tribune a few days ago.
No word from the Houston side of things yet.....
Crawford and Jerome Williams go to the Knicks for Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington, former University of Illinois standout Frank Williams and Cezary Trybanski. Mutombo and Trybanski won't be around long.
The Bulls already have talked to Houston about a deal involving Eric Piatkowski, league sources said.
Tribune story link......So the question begs........if the H-Town lands Mutombo to backup Yao, coupled with today's signings, where does this put them in the wild, wild, west.
Honestly, if they land Mutombo, I think they can challenge SA and Minny for the top spot in the West.
Your thoughts please........
