Because of his salary a team would have to gut their roster and practically build from scratch. Shaq doesn't have enough years left in those wheels for a team to develope around him.
That is why the perfect choice for the trade is Charlotte. They can pick enough players from teh expansion draft....working with the Lakers....to make the trade. It gives Charlotte an excellant first couple seasons and when they get their full salary cap will have all the room that Shaq's contract will free up. Any other team would have to basically gut their rosters to get Shaq.
Danny Forston, Elden Campbell, Malik Rose & Brian Grant?
Austin Croshere, Antonio Davis, Ervin Johnson, Jerome James, Jahidi White in place of some of the above?
Ending contracts like Antoine Walker, Pippen?
If I'm Kupchak I am burning upo the lines with Charlotte....Shaq gives them instant appeal, competiveness and puts him in the East. In return the Lakers can get several serviceable big men in return. They have to be realistic and realize they are not going to get a bunch of stars in return for Shaq....no one is going to gut their team for a 32 year old overweight center that plays 60 games a year.
