Kevin Love superstar?
« on: November 25, 2010, 01:17:03 AM »
Since Laker Boi Rambis was ordered to stop benching Kevin Love (yeah wow)
http://forums.phillyarena.com/index.php?topic=6368.0

Love has now (in the 10 game or so stretch since) rattled off three games of
23/24 vs Lakers
31/31 vs Knicks (Moses Malone was the last player to do it with 32 points and 38 rebounds for Houston against Seattle in 1982.)
32/22 vs Spurs tonight.

Safe to assume Loves star status is here?

Last ones to do 30/30 all HOFers no doubt.

Season    Player    Opp.    Pts.-Reb.
2010-11    Kevin Love, MIN    Knicks    31-31
1981-82    Moses Malone, HOU    Sonics    38-32
1978-79    Moses Malone, HOU    Jazz    33-37
1978-79    Robert Parish, GS    Knicks    30-32
1977-78    Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LAL    Nets

Fewest games in between 30/20s.  Same thing, all HOF assuming Dwight Howard keeps it up.
Snaq O'Neal    1    1999-00
Dirk Nowitzki    4    2001-02
Kevin Love    5    2010-11
Dwight Howard    6    2007-08
Tim Duncan    6    2000-01

Yes, yes, for crying out loud yes!

'Bout time Rambis stopped being an idiot.

EDIT: 'Bout time Rambis stopped being *less* of an idiot.

Love is a really good player.  He may be the best rebounder in the league; he can shoot the ball (88% from the line this year); he's a talented passer; and he's only 22 years old.

Yeah, his defense isn't great, but he tries.  He's not Michael Beasley or somebody.

Since that 23/24 exhibit against LA, he's averaging (in nine games):
20.4 points
16.7 reb
2.6 ast
11-for-23 3pt (.423)
45/50 FT (.90)
.467 FG

Yeah, the FG% could be better, but come on.  Look at some of those stats.  And that's in about 37 minutes a game (finally!).

True, he's doing this on a 4-12 team, but they've blown three significant leads in the 4th quarter over the past week or so (at Atlanta, at Charlotte, home against San An).  They could easily be 7-9. which is far from terrible.

The kid is just a really good player.

I think he could be the 2nd-best player on a playoff team, and probably 3rd-best on a championship-caliber team.  Perhaps even better with time (Pau Gasol in Memphis, anyone?).

Suffice to say, I'm a huge fan, and have been since last year, BEFORE he was on my fantasy team.  :)

He has magnets in his hands for the rubber, it is crazy!  As a local UCLA guy, I have to root for him.  The problem is it looks like his days in Minnesota are numbered.  If he continues to be that big if a rebounding force there is a number of teams who are going to offer him big money.
