OT: possible troop increase
« on: April 06, 2004, 10:43:11 AM »
A senior officer in Washington said U.S. military commanders have begun studying ways they might increase troops in Iraq should violence spread. Generals believe they have enough forces to handle the attacks, including the Shiite militia violence, but want to know what is available if the situation gets worse, said the officer, briefing reporters on condition of anonymity.   :(

Interesting they don't track civilian deaths. I have an uncle who took a contract job over there. I'm sorry, IMO, family comes before money, my uncle's an idiot, leaving his family behind so he can make a quick buck.  And he's no spring chicken, he's in his 50's.

I guess you don't know what a "contractor" is then.

A contractor is one of two things.  He's either an hourly worker that gets paid twice as much as a regular employee for doing half the work or he/she is CIA.

When I was recruited and durring the initial CIA bootcamp, they referred to each other as "contractors".

Unfortunately both types of contractors are regarded in the same "expendable" light.  In the private sector that just means finding another job, in the CIA it means finding a way home after you've been left behind.  Communications specialist in the CIA are the last guys to get out of a bad place.  :(

Yup, one week in SoCal and two weeks in DC.  The two weeks in DC where more like training and weeding out the weaklings.  I got offered a spot so I spoke with an uncle who was a "contractor" wink wink and he talked me out of it.  Tech guys are extreemly vital because they keep the lines of communications open so they don't get to leave on the first chopper.  They have to wait for the 1972 Ford pickup to roll up for their getaway.  The Iran hostages where all comms/tech guys except two I beleive.

The cool CIA tech guys you see in the movies get recruited from REAL colleges (Cal-Tech, MIT, etc..), the cannon fodder CIA tech guys get recruited from places like ITT Tech, Devry, CalPoly etc...

guess we know how they screwed up on communicating the WMD information then ...thanks a lot WOW  ;)
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

Yeah, I got recruited, went through the training course and all that, in the end it just wasn't for me.  Something about wearing that Bugs Bunny costume at Magic Mountain all day just didn't sound too appealing... :D
