I have to agree with Randy.  I think Bobby's offense is overlooked.  He def cannot score like Damon but he can score.  Just ask JoMaL how many times hes came off the bench and started nailing shots and getting into the lane.  Dont expect him to drop 40 but you can count on 15 points if he gets a decent amount of minutes.

I don't see Bobby Jackson as being a good defender, but rather an explosive offensive threat.

However, Joe, I think you are wrong about Jackson -- while Jackson has lost a little due to age and injury, he is still a decent defender and an underrated scorer (if he can stay healthy).

I'm not saying anything bad about Bobby's offensive game, in fact I like his "take it to the basket" attitude.  But it was his defense that made Rick Adelman put him in at the end of games, not his offense.  See with Damon being essentially "Mike Bibby Lite" or an "Old White Chocolate" he'll run the offense and put some points on the board, then you've got B Jax playing the all-important crunch time minutes to keep Damon from squandering the lead by taking ill-advised shots.  I think Jerry did good with both acquisitions.  Question now is whether Fratello can strike that delicate balance.  And from opinions around the board, it doesn't look like anyone here has that faith in him.

Aha.  On Curry another reason his lack of offers in not Bulls ability to match rather:

Curry found a respected physician in California who cleared him to play, though there remain questions with other physicians he's seen. The Bulls asked Curry to take a DNA test to determine if he has a serious condition. Curry declined. The insurance company which covers NBA players will not insure Curry's contract because of the heart issue.

The Bulls have talked with Curry about a short-term deal with incentives. Curry has said no. The general feeling around the NBA is the Bulls know Curry best, and if they're not offering him anything, well …
Sam Smith espn.

Chandlers reasoning?:
The 76ers gave Samuel Dalembert, who averaged 8.4 points and 7.6 rebounds, a long-term deal averaging about $10 million a year. Chandler, despite not starting, averaged 8.1 points and 9.8 rebounds, and is generally better than Dalembert even if Chandler's shooting range is about 2 inches. So Chandler wants his deal averaging more than Dalembert's. The Bulls supposedly offered what seems like a generous deal for a player a year removed from serious back problems, but Chandler is said to be holding out for a maximum contract, even though he has no other offers. NBA economics.

Bobby Jackson is offense, period, though he once was a very decent defender. He has lost a step and that step is the one where opponents crossover past him.

But more to the point, Bobby is really not an NBA quality "starting" point guard. Adelman had no problem playing him there for the times Bibby was out, but he is really a mediocre playmaker, which is also the problem with Watson.

Jackson, though, as a bench spark plug, who can distrupt an opponent lulled by the standard starting five he has spent most of his video time studying, can fire up a team like few can in the League. THAT is why people love his play.

But as a starter, quite frankly, he completely loses that edge. Stoudemire should start in Memphis for that reason, and with Jackson, why would they need a less talented clone like Watson?

What exactly is his injury status, if known?

And I've ALWAYS felt that Jackson was offense, period, and an underrated playmaker.

If you're saying he's a back-up who shouldn't be a starter - ala Troy Murphy and Chucky Atkins - I can see why you'd say that.  But I always felt he'd be better to use to OPEN games than Bibby.  Then again, I'm not as high on Bibby as most folks are.

His numerous injuries from the last three years have all healed, to my knowledge, but his style of play and age may cause future ones to occur.

Joe, having watched Bobby Jackson play for six years in Sacramento, backing up first J-Will and then Mike Bibby, I can tell you that the Kings used Bobby in exactly the best way to maximize his utility on the court.

Every team dreams of a player like Jackson, who can come off the bench firing rockets and daggers into the psychi of the other team. In its heyday, it was very impressive.

But like all scoring point guards, as opposed to playmakers like Bibby, who clearly has the starting chops for the NBA game, Jackson was prone to shooting slumps. No problem, if at that point you work to set up teammates for scores instead. But that was when you saw the flaws with Jackson running the offense. There are no pass-first options in his game. He would continue to shoot first and consider passing second - a distant second. And let me tell you, if his shot does not fall, opponents don't get too worried about him giving the ball up, but instead just watch Bobby with the ball because he just continues shooting it.

So Adelman used him as that spark plug who distrupted the other team's set defense they would use against the Kings. The change in tempo and style compared to the starters was noticable.

If they decide to start Bobby in Memphis, and that is what he would like, Jackson needs to figure out how to involve his teammates more and not take the shot every time. Which is NOT the Bobby Jackson that the Grizzlies and everyone else expects to see next season.

That is a starters mentality and the question is, can Bobby change his game that much and do they really want him too?
