How would a team know if the Eagles are willing to deal if they DON'T call?

Maybe the fact that the Eagles have let it be known they will not trade TO period.
Combined with their history of meaning it when they say this.

This was even before TOs PMS sessions.

Anyway you uncomprehensible one, your point is no team would take TO.
Mine was IF available, they would take him.  See Ray Lewis.  Or maybe slicing and dicing is considered more desireable then whining like a chick.

That's it Reality, never admit you're wrong, even when the evidence is there!

When did the Eagles ever say they wouldn't trade TO?  They didn't.  You just made that up to validate your invalid point.

When Rosenhaus tried to renegotiate his deal.  I got ESPN to make up this story also.  http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/homeNews...il.jsp?id=31723

Don't go Randy on me.  There is enough PMS going around with this whole T.O. deal.
"BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Eagles president Joe Banner met with wide receiver Terrell Owens and his agent Drew Rosenhaus Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Lehigh University to discuss Owens' unhappiness with his contract.
Banner, along with head coach Andy Reid, delivered to them the same message that the Eagles have delivered the entire offseason - that while the Eagles understand Owens' position, they will not re-negotiate.

"We're glad he's here. We're glad he's committed to focusing on football and trying to have a good year," Banner said. "Our position always has been that he has a contract and he needs to honor it. That continues to be our position."

Banner said the Eagles are keeping to their word

"Our expectations is that he's here and he's here to stay," Banner said. "We're on the same page moving forward in terms of our goals and his goals.

"He is a very prideful, very competitive guy. He's very proud of his ability to play football. I think he's prideful in his both his own performance and his team's performance."

Banner said that one of the reasons that the Eagles are taking this approach with Owens is that if they backed down to Owens' demands, their word would not be trusted in the future.

"In the long run, we would have created a situation where people wouldn't have been able to rely on what we say," Banner said. "When you're negotiating a contract or doing business in the community, it's important for them to know you mean what you say."

Neither of these articles say anything about the Eagles trading him.  All they say is that the Eagles said they would not RENEGOTIATE.

Just for once, admit it.  Not for me, not for the board, but yourself.  It's better to admit being wrong, than to deny it.

For the love of Pete....

The Eagles would have traded him?
I'm wrong.

More articles i made up:
Fri Aug 12 2005 - Eagles president Joe Banner says Terrell Owens will play for the Eagles this season or not play at all. Owens had a pair of interviews on ESPN Thursday in which he openly needled coach Andy Reid, offensive coordinator Brad Childress, and Donovan McNabb. If the Eagles were hoping for a change of attitude, they are out of luck.   FoxSports.com

Trenton Times (registration required): "Eagles President Joe Banner, a day after wide receiver Terrell Owens was sent home for a week, said Owens either would play for the Eagles this season or he would not play at all. Banner was adamant that the team will not trade or release Owens, which seems to be the route Owens wants."

Drew Rosenhaus, Owens' agent, said Friday he just wants a fair-market deal for Owens.
"At this time, the Eagles have said to me they are not interested in trading him and we have not received permission to seek a trade." July 22nd CBS Sportsline.

NO, apparently I'm wrong since the Eagles said they would not trade him.  Actually this may simply be a tactic on their part.  The Eagles may be very vindictive and mean with a player who jerks them around, but they will not do so if it hurts them.

TO could obviously hurt the Eagles by deliberately blowing plays on the field.  The Eagles would file a grievance get as much money back from him as they could and then have to figure out what to do.

Other teams would be deterred by TO's history and the recognition that they would have to give up something of value to the Eagles and sign Owens to a new contract, presumably even higher than the one he signed with them.

There are only a few teams that might be willing and able to do that, teams already capable of playing in the Supe, wouldn't, but a team just below that group might.

You can't force the renegotiation of a deal without leverage.

Eagles number 2 receiver last year, Todd Pinkston, is gone for the year.  Eagles number 3 receiver last year, Freddie Mitchell, couldn't be reconciled with and has gone to the Chiefs.  Eagles, although having more draft picks than any other team this year, failed to trade up to draft an impact rookie (Braylon Edwards, Mike Willimas...etc.), instead they got Reggie Brown from Georgia.  They couldn't pick up quality receivers through free agency (Derrick Mason or Plaxico Buress) mostly thanks to Joe "budget-concious" Banner.  All this has left them with Greg (25 catches for his entire career) Lewis as the number one option and Reggie Brown as their number two, if Owens sits.  If that isn't leverage, I don't know what is.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All that being said, Owens is a disgrace to sports period, and I would've dropped his ass the minute he talked about McNabb in the media back in April.

That isn't leverage.  He has to play for the Eagles if he wants to get paid.  If he doens't play, not only doesn't he get paid, but has to give money back.  That's leverage.

Joe (stay in control of the Cap) Banner, and Andy Reid will never ever be held hostage by a player.  They belive in their system, and are confident they can take an average reciever and make him productive with McNabb to buy time in the pocket, and Westbrook to keep the defense honest.  The evidence is that they are better with a great wide-out like TO, but still effective even with an average group.  The Eagles have let players go before, rather than paying them.  It hasn't caught up with them yet.

Look an NE, who's the star wide-out on that offense?  With the O-line and Brady, they get it done.  The Eagles with McNabb are the same way.
