New arena proposition in SacTown failed . . .
« Reply #15 on: March 03, 2005, 11:26:05 AM »
In a nutshell the Retirement Board took one billion dollars from the City Employees retirement fund and gave a bunch of that to the Padres Petco Park.
used the rest for???  they wont answer.  Shredding documents etc.

Behind closed door meetings, SEC and FBI investigations, its all a mess.
One retirement board member named Diane Shipone wanted to expose all the evildoing going on.  She has been tossed out of the Retirement Board and threatened with arrest if she testifies.
Continued stonewalling, a mayor that is so obviously on the take...SD city and county has an integrity cesspool, not that most all cities and politicians do not.

Yeah the talk is bankruptcy like The OC went thru.  Payments must be made to creditors in 2005.  I dont think backruptcy will happen but as always the lower-middle class who had nothing to do with creating the debt or stealing the tax funds will get jammed with the payoff of the debt.

Ok so what the gossip queen in our SD office was saying was true.  She said pretty much what you said but not in so much detail.   People in our company have said things before about some of the guys down there being on the take.  I figured they were just bitter that maybe SD didnt accept one of our bids put it to do some work for them.

WoW...ever heard of the company I work for?

Nope.

Do you guys specialize in any particular industry?  I typically run into new names all the time when I deal with "specialists".

Here's a list of companies I've worked for, let me know if you've heard of them and what you heard if anything.

Dynalectrix
CSI Inc.(Control System International)
Nautronix Inc.
Excelsis/Ballard/Ford
Merlin Technology
KDC-Dynalectric
Vigilant Consulting Services (that one is mine ;) )
Vulcan Materials Company (current)

Water and wastewater treatment is the industry we specialize in.  We have been known to do other kinds of jobs but 99% of our work is providing consulting services for design, repair, and upgrading of anything related to water and wastewater.  If you are comming up the 405 from Orange County or heading south on the 405 towards Orange County you can see the office right off the freeway.  There is a huge sign that says 'Carollo Engineers'......the Orange County Sanitation District wanted us to be nice and close.

CSI sounds familiar but never heard of the rest.  We have so many other companies/vendors comming in and out of our office here in Fountain Valley I tend to forget.

You're located in Fountain Valley, then.

This may interest you.  Todays San Diego Union Tribune paper.
Here is the url, http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20050303-9999-1n3pension.html

If that doesnt work try SignOnSandiego.com or SanDiegoUnionTribune.com, when you get to the front page look for the icon "Feds prod city on pace of fiscal probes"

Here it is in part.  The whole article is annoying but will give you a flavor of whats going on.

"The pension problem, financial reporting irregularities, the lack of audited financial statements for 2003 and 2004, and the ongoing federal investigations have crippled the city's ability to raise money by selling bonds. This has led to the scuttling of federally mandated water and sewer upgrades and cast doubts on planned fire station and library construction."

side point.  (When you read entire article) Donna Frye is the way cool down to Earth Councilwoman with integrity who is very often outvoted 8-1 by the council.  She ran for mayor as a write in, beat the current corruptoid by 177K-172K, however 5000+ votes were not counted because even tho the voters wrote in her full name, they did not color a little chad-bubble next to her name.

One of our offices is.   The main office is actually in PHX.   Fountain Valley is my home office but I travel to all our smaller offices from San Diego all the way up to Fresno all the time.  That is my area that I cover.  We have something like 24 offices coast to coast.  Thank god that we have a decent size IT staff that covers other regions.  I dont live in Fountain Valley......sheesh I wish, the rent is a little too steep for me.  I much rather have to commute than pay the insane prices to rent an apartment.

Reality thanks for the link!  I figured that had something to do with them dragging their feet with SD's water services.  Still, the EPA could careless come 2006.  They are going to really crack down on SD, especially since the area is becomming more and more populated.  As if SD didnt have plenty of problems to worry about already.
