Again, in the word of leading strategist Grover Norquist, "Bipartisanship is another word for date rape."
JN,
I have always read Norquist's quote differently.  He is saying that the Dem's view of bipartisanship is that they get what they want, and if you don't give it to them or if the Republicans get what they wanted then the the Republicans are being partisan.
In other words it is the Republicans who get "date raped".
A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

Lurker,
I hear Sejuatanejo is nice. Be sure to let us know when you're coming north for your yearly tapeworm-related medical treatment. We'll buy you some lunch and you can laugh at us when we tell you stories of how the FBI uses secret warrants to raid our houses every other week because we said hello to a Mediterranean-looking man in line at McDonalds. Just don't get pissed when we start coming south to take your jobs away from you because our economy is in shambles.

My opinion is that view giving an inch leads to total capitulation has a hold to some degree in both parties.  As I've said here before, when my side prevents something, it's standing up on principle.  When your side does it, it's partisan obstruction.

However, in conjuction with the extremity of Norquist's other quotes (such as the one equating taxes with the Holocaust) I have to take a different view.

I just find the statement that Daschle was more partisan than a bigoted ethical midget like DeLay absurd.

As do I!

Who made that statement?

Can you post a link?

Well played Ted.

I will amend to say that there is no way Dashcle was DeLays equal in partisanship.

I'm mad.  I'm not going to lie.  I'm not mad because I stood in line for 3 hours because frankly there was alot of important local issues I voiced my opinion on.  What I'm mad about is the fact that Bush was awarded another term even though he did not deserve it.  Its almost like social promotion, which I'm sure he knows alot about.  I also feel that alot of people did not vote demo out of fear that they have minority intrests in mind.  I also am very disapointed in the younger generation (which I am apart of).   Where were we?  I was the only person under the age of 30 who stayed in line the whole time.  The few younger voters who did show up ended up leaving cuz the line was 'too long'......WTF?!
sorry koast, but there were about 3 million more people in the country that said W DID deserve another term....

On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

Yea...and how many of those people are from the Yokel southern united states?  I mean this is the same demographic of people who watch Nascar, drink Pabst blue ribbon, and keep multiple broken down cars and washers in the front yard.
