Not really that long for the Pistons, considering the wait other teams have experienced in winning an NBA championship. I just found out who won the ring only about ten days ago, as I had no access to U.S. sports in England, since both Wimbleton and the World Cup were dominating all sports reporting over there.
A few interesting changes have already happened, it would seem. Jackson is no longer LA's coach? Not entirely unexpected, but it still shocked me when I heard about it. Shaq also wanting out of LA would appear to be "shocking", except it will be practically impossible to move the "Big Irritation" due to his contract, age, and NBA life expectancy due to his ever problematic toes and weight.
NBA draft looks very weak. After the top two, I can't see any rookie making much noise next year. Not like last year, anyway. There always will be "sleepers" and surprises, but my guess is there will be more "busts" then usual.
Kings news. Not much. Gerald Wallace went to the Bobcats because they think his atheletism will make up for his lack of NBA coachability. They may get some use out of him, but more likely they are going to ask themselves what the hell they were thinking. Assistant coach John Wetzel retired. May not mean that much to other people, but this guy was pretty active behind the scenes for Adelman and sort of an institution, like Tex in LA.
Pete Carrill opted to come back and skip going to the Celtics. Boston just can't catch a break since Danny Ainge took over. Carrill is a smart, smart coach who can actually "reach" players and convince them that he can help improve their offensive game.
Unless, of course, your name is Wallace. Gerald, not Ben or Rasheed.
If only there was a Pete Carrill out there who can do the same for the King's defense.
