Thank goodness for the NBA League office! By giving the Sacramento King's star forward 8 more games to calm himself down prior to committing his fragile body to the rigors of what will amount to a 24 game season, they are forcing Chris to focus on his renewed committment to clean up his image and concentrate on what is really important - spindoctoring his way around questions about the added games the team will lose his services brought on, no doubt, by a relaxing drag on a joint after one of his strenuous rehab sessions.
Whatever can the Kings do without Chris? I mean, besides leading the League into the All Star break with the best winning percentage record. To think that Brad Miller's injury would have just been an annoying blurp on the King's radar had Webber actually been activated to PLAY immediately. As it stands now, Miller will probably be back before Chris is.
Chris Webber appears to be a genuinely nice kid - with a chronic maturity issue. He is known to pout, to get hurt feelings when his team at the time disagrees with how he has conducted himself, and when the media probes into his very public private life.
Would you like to know what Chris feels about the 8 additional games he will be missing due to the suspension? So would everyone in SacTown, but so far Webber has avoided anyone who has a media badge. I am sure he will work out the wording to perfection once he finally agrees to talk, and he will sound sincere and blast that $102.8 million megawatt smile to everyone at that time, but he must feel very unappreciated by the Kings all the same.
I mean, his teammates doing just fine without him all these months must be the deepest cut of all. Where's the love? After all, Chris isn't the only multi-talented player in the League who lies to Grand Juries, and tends to spend much of his millions while rehabilitating his latest injury for so long that teammates have turned his locker into a potato farm. So I guess we fans should forgive him for taking the occasional tokes to ease the strain those millions of dollars make in his wallet, and on his pyschi for no one missing his services all that much.
Until now, with Miller out for a while. We knew he would be suspended for his lying, but the added games lost due to violating the League's drug policy does NOT bode well for the reception he will (or should) receive on his eventual return. Knowing the majority of SacTown fans, it is a crap shoot whether they give him any kind of 'forgiveness' ovation, or boo him as he deserves.
