I see, 3 CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS is not a dyansty are the even the beginnings of one.

On the other hand, now let me get this right, 1 championship seperated by 3 years before the next championship, in other words 2 championship over 5 years is a championship, and one of those is, shall we say, asterisk worthy, is a dynasty, or at least a "Duncan Dynasty", is that correct?

Lurker my friend, you may not have been a product of the Texas school system, but whichever one you are a product of should give the tax dollars back. Even we living here in the filtered sunshine of LA LA Land can add better than that, in the playoffs over the last 5 years (3 of which LA emerged champions) the Lakers and the Spurs are tied at 2-2 in postseason play, and LA is by 1 ring.

I'm curious, does the new math you seem to be employing mean you guys get to say you have 5 teeth instead of just 3???
But Mr. Laker Fan sir....I'm not denying the existance of a dynasty.  But your fellow California fanatic claimed that the Spurs were 0-3.  I merely stated that they were 2-3.  Then he clarified that he was talking THIS YEAR only.  In which case I do deny the existance of a dynasty.  As IMO there is never a dynasty in 1 year.....

Actually, I believe he was talking about the Spurs dismal performance against the top teams, east or west, this year, and specifically against LA, against whom they are 0-3. Spurs fans slammed us in this thread for losing to lowly Orlando earlier but seem to forget that loss they suffered to Atlanta. Beat someone worth beating guys, otherwise, you're just woofin' and dogs that woof usually have no teeth.

Oh, silly me, they beat Sacramento, ONCE, what was I thinking!

How about some interesting facts for those hoping for another Spurs championship?

Pretty interesting Power Rankings. How do the Spurs rank better than Indy? Because they managed to beat SacTown?

Take a look at the top 8 teams in the league and how they fared against each other:

SacTown - record of 6-4
wins against SA, LA, Indy, Minn, Det, and NJ
losses against SA, Dallas (2x), and Minn

Spurs - record of 4-9
wins against Indy, NJ, SacTown, and NJ
losses against LA (3x), Dallas (2x), Minn, Indy, Det, and SacTown

Pacers - record of 9-5
wins against Det (3x), NJ (2x), Minn, LA, Dallas, SA
losses against SacTown, Minn, NJ, SA, LA

Mavericks - 10-5
wins against LA (2x), SA (2x), Minn (2x), SacTown (2x), NJ, Det
losses against LA (2x), Minn, Indy, Det

TWolves - 8-5
wins against SacTown, Dallas, Indy, LA (2x), SA, Det (2x)
losses against NJ, SacTown, Indy, Dallas (2x)

Nets - 4-6
wins against Minn, Det (2x), Indy
losses against Indy (2x), SA (2x), SacTown, Dallas

Lakers - 7-8
wins against Dallas (2x), SA (3x), Det, Indy
losses against Det, Dallas (2x), Minn (2x), SacTown, Indy (2x)

Detroit - 4-9
wins against NJ, LA, Dallas, SA
losses against Indy (3x), SacTown, LA, NJ (2x), Minn, Dallas

Isn't it interesting that there are only four teams with winning records against the top 8 teams in the league? And three of those four teams are ranked below the Spurs who have a horrible record against top 8 teams? I am quite amazed that everyone seems to make such a big deal about the Spurs beating the Kings -- they beat them ONCE -- right after they lost against them a week earlier (somehow that's forgotten though). The Spurs don't belong as #2 -- perhaps as #4 or #5 -- they are 1 and 7 against the top WC teams -- I guess that's why everyone wants to make such a big deal out of beating the Kings -- they finally beat someone they might have to face in the second round of the playoffs. Too bad the series isn't made up of one game.

Oh, and someone mentioned records since Dec. 1 (in an attempt to promote the Spurs "great" record since that time:

Again, top 8 teams record against each other:

Minnesota - 7-1

Dallas - 7-4

Indy - 6-4

SacTown - 4-4

NJ - 3-3

SA - 2-5

Lakers - 2-6

Det.  -  2-7

So, again, the Spurs have a really bad record against the top 8 teams in the league even during their "hot streak."  Some much for overinflated records, huh?  Stay excited about the win over SacTown, Spurs fans, you want to take something into next years season.

But back onto Magic's statue -- so glad to see it -- Magic truly earned it with his great play, unselfish attitude and love for the game.  One of the best to have ever played the game.

Would also love to see a statue in Chick's honor -- I think he has deserved it as well.  Truly a legend that will never be surpassed.

Yes, he clarified that he was talking about this year.  And I don't deny that.  I am just questioning how this year's Lakers have become the Bling Bling Dynasty.  I always thought that you had to win a few titles before becoming a dynasty.  And last time I checked this year's Lakers haven't won any rings.

I don't think this year's team is a dynasty -- but another team in the dynasty legend.  When you think of the great players of the NBA -- who comes to mind?  George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kobe Bryant.  And this manages to leave out names like Gail Goodrich, Michael Cooper, Norm Nixon, Byron Scott, on and on and on.  You know when you think of contenders decade after decade after decade, it always come back to purple and gold, huh?

It's okay though, this team will just be another team in the dynasty organization!

First, they aren't the only contender decade after decade.
Maybe the only one that people with purple & gold cataracts can come up with.

Second, yes just another team in a organization...that may or may not live up to its "dynasty" billing.

Bottom line:
The Spurs are 0-3 against the Lakers this year - I have never denied that.  Try reading comprehension classes.

The Lakers this year are NOT a dynasty - Bling Bling or otherwise.

Please show me where I stated that you did deny this?  I'm sure you try to deny it but the facts are overwhelming!

Actually, name another organization who has had as much success over the decades of NBA history than the Lakers?  The Celts?  Nope, they haven't made a serious run since Bird and co.  They do have more titles than the Lakers but the Lakers have proven quite successful in almost every decade since the NBA's inception.  Definately more than any other club.
