73-69 and MO clearly back in SAs court.
IMO the rest wasn't a big factor.  But at that point, 73-69, it seemed like the game was up for grabs.  IMO it seemed like the Lakers were ready to make a push but the Spurs shifted into a higher gear that the Lakers couldn't match.

Also the Spurs bench added a spark while the Lakers bench just fumbled around.  As bad as GP, Malone and the bench played the Lakers were still in the game.  Should anyone of those three step up I like the Lakers changes, of course I also don't expect the Spurs to shot FT's as poorly as the did.

Lakers must steal game 2 to put some pressure on the Spurs.  I can see the Spurs not being worried about two games at Staples if they go in 2-0.  A relaxed confident Spurs team could win one in Staples and really control the series.

[Kobe forced the contact with Rasho by jumping into him and got the call.  Rasho then took a swipe at Kobe.  That should have been a T no question.
Nonsense on the Nest initiating the hit part.  Tape is here as proof.

1.  Kobme initiates contact by jumping into Rasha as he is releasing his jumper.  True.
2.  On rebound attempt Kobme takes right arm and it's semi locked with Rashos right arm.  Kobme now follows thru with a roundhouse right arm and his elbow hits Rash on side of head.  Pure and simple.  Its on Tivo, dont b.s. it any other way.  Feel free to jump in anyone with tape.

Rash now retaliates on head swat by tossing an arm Kobmes way.

Should Kombe have gotten foul and tech?  Absolute irrefutable proof.
Should Rash have gotten retaliate teck.  Nyya probably with the NBAs lame rules that you can't do anything back to someone who hits you.

But for Doc Rivers to one side it while mentioning zero on Kombes elbow swat,  along with Al Nozer Michaels spin job, well thank you Jomal you are correct.

Oh i concur and am by no means saying at 73-69 the game was lost to the Flamers.

However, do you not concur that being up 69-64 then down 73-69 changed the Lakers fortunes drastically?  At 73-69 they were in the hunt and we concur it was the Spurs close that did them in.  However, if they choose better shot selection when ahead they help themselves much more.

Not to sound pompous, but the Lakers are clearly outmatched. Spurs are gelling, playing like a TEAM, something that LA knows nothing about.  With SA, its not just about TD or Parker, EVERYBODY gets involved.

Plus,

I really don't foresee Hedo having another bad game. He's been one of our main guns this season. Spurs in 5. Really, I'm thinking sweep.

Did anyone else find it interesting that Rose didn't even play?  Hey, if you don't want the guy, the Lakers will be happy to take him off your hands!   :D

Got to admit i didn't even miss Rose.  :P

Was pleasantly surprised to find Devin Brown getting 14 min, Jason Hart a cruicial 6 min and TRex getting 3 to keep the joints oiled and Dunker and RadNest rested.

Team Ball.
Love it!  :D

BS JoMal, you didn't actually see the play or are just to biased for your opinion to have any real worth on this point.

Kobe forced the contact with Rasho by jumping into him and got the call.  Rasho then took a swipe at Kobe.  That should have been a T no question.  They both jawed at each other and both should have gotten a T, it's happend on other occasions.

Had it been Christie you would have applauded him not taking that attempted cheap shot and standing up for himself.

BS JoMal.
Oh, I saw the whole play, WOW, and BS biased point of view ain't gonna change the film on that play.

There was no "Call", as you put it, until Kobe turned back to jaw with Nesterovic, or were you watching a new life form in your belly button during that stretch.

Again, Kobe's beef should have been because no foul was called, not for pushing and shoving under the basket, which happens after a missed basket. The refs saw Kobe's shove and Nesterovic's response, but no whistle until Kobe does a 180 and noses up to Rasho. Argument was all on Kobe's part, as Nesterovic looked to be saying something about get away from me.

Bringing Christie into this fray really weakens your point of view even more, WOW. The cop-out fall guy scenario proves you know it was the right call or you would not go panting after the media darling of the week.

There is absolutely no way you are correct.  Just like there is no way all that beer I was drinking could possibly affect my recolection of the game!

Thanks for th props Laker fans.  After watching the game on tape last night,  my observations.....

1.)  Nobody on the Lakers can defend Parker.  He ate up Payton, Fisher and even blew by All-NBA defensive first team member Kobe.  If the Lakers have to double both Parker & Duncan they are a lost cause.

2.)  Rasho's defense on Shaq was outstanding.   Very understated but forced the big pachyderm to actually look like a four legged creature with extra appendage.  And the best post entry passer on the Lakers (Fox) didn't even have to bother dusting off the wood dust from his shorts.

3.)  I love seeing PJ shorten his rotation to six players.  Kobe, Shaq & Malone all played over 40 minutes.  Fisher was the only bench player to put in significant minutes.  With all the rest between games 1 & 2 and then 2 & 3 it shouldn't be a big problem (all hail TV).  But when 3 & 4 are only a day apart the fatigue will set in earlier.

4.) Free throws kept the Lakers in this game.  I would be hard pressed to say that the Lakers were more aggressive but they had more MADE fts in the first half than the Spurs had ATTEMPTS.  The level of physical play allowed was not consistent on both ends of the court.

5.) Maybe Kobe's tech was a makeup for the first quarter travel and subsequent free throws that Kobe "earned".

It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.  Keep on thinking free.

damn dude, i can picture Wow thawing out a whole bunch of crow just for you......
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

lol no doubt.  I know he has a huge stride but common when the guy goes from behind the arc all the way to the middle of the paint you know something is up.

No one on the Lakers can guard Parker.  Kobe has barely any chance because Parker gets so low to the ground and turns the jets on that he will get around him.  Payton doesn't have the speed and Fish is a good body up defender but Parker never gets himself into that situation with Fish.
