 , I'm back!  Thanks to JW thinking of me and sending me an e-mail.  Thanks.  I didn't bail on the board because the Sixers started to smell. (more later)

I haven't been here, because I lost my job (NO tears, please) and the link to the site was on my work PC.

Once I was separated, it ook off to Mexico for a while  B) enjoying the fun and sun, and figuring out how I was going to make a living from now on.

I decided I would become a speculator and make my living through the market,   I realize this sounds somehat absurd, but so far it seems to be working!  As I'm writing this, I'm makeing money on call options and gold stocks.  If I get good enough at this to make a decent living, I'll start offereing my services to others on a contingency fee basis, but until I do that I have to proove it to myself by winning consistently.

 Now, about the Sixers, I really thought they'd be better by now   They picked up some decent talent, and I figured without whining Larry Brown, the team would be reenergized.  But the players didn't come to play.  You could see it in their eyes and their body langauge.  Whatever magic they had from their title year was gone.

Injuries didn't help, especially when they lost Marc Jackson and Derrick Coleman at the same time.  But I figure any team with A.I. and Glenn Robinson should be able to win their share of games, with support from E. Snow and A McKie.  <_<

Clearly not.  They could still make the playoffs, now that they have a new coach.  I feel sorry for Randy Ayers.  I think the team let him down.  Although they're short up front right now, and a little weak, they have a great shot-blocker in Dalembert, two great scorers, and some fairly talented guards.  Mckie has been a dissapointment, but he's not as big a part of the team as a result.

The All-Star break with give Chris Ford the chance to get the team working the way he wants, and Marc Jackson will be back.  I still haven't sen what this team is capable of, and I hope to in the second half of the season, so no predictions at this time.

I did want to say that I missed all of you, and attempted to find the board a couple of time with little success.  The site has now been bookmarked, so I'll be back soon.  Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll look forward to speaking with you again.

Ricko

Sweet, welcome back. We need to do the same for some of the older MSNBC posters. Somebody send an email to Rolando Blackman.

If only you would use your speculation skills for the enhancement of goodness and against evil.

Welcome to dabod's new forum, which seems to be collecting old msnbc posters by the bushel. More then a mere basketball forum, we discuss REAL issues of hardhitting topics ripped from today's headlines, such as who got to Tivo Janet Jackson's boob, and would 55 hours of marital bliss with Brittany Spears be worth it.

And not to suggest you are putting all your eggs in one basket, but what if you get fired from this job? Your new boss may not even LIKE the Sixers.

Take JoMal and me. ..we argue all the time. He thinks Adelman is doing a great job with the Kings, while I righteously think he should be resting his starters more frequently so they are fresh for the playoffs. JoMal also argues that Bibby is not playing quite up to par all the time, while I simply cannot believe he was left off the All Star team and that stiff Francis was even ON it, let alone voted in as a starter.  Does your new boss even FOLLOW basketball?

Your new boss already sounds like a jerk. You don't need this! Demand that he respects your opinion and that you deserve compensation for all your hard work, not just empty promises.

If you need any moral support during this trying time, Rick, just let me (us) know. JoMal and I are here for you. We've been through this, so we understand how your feelings might be split and can help you through it.

I sent Rolando an e-mail as well last night. Now we just have to wait until he shows up.

BTW, welcome back, rickortreat. Sorry to hear about the loss of your job, but it sounds like you have landed on your feet. Best of luck in your new endeavour. Of course, if you are successful and taking on new clients, I'm sure you'll offer us all a SIGNIFICANT discount on your normal fees.

Welcome back bro.  Tears for your losing your job? No way! Get a job you leech!!

Yeah tough year in Philly.  I'm amazed to hear you say the Magic is gone as you're normally the most optimistic poster here. Dang!

Not so sure it's the players who've let down Ayers.  His track record going in wasn't actually all that impressive. At Ohio State he rode Jim Jackson to a couple good years then used illegal recruiting to bring in some bums who then underachieved.  He left the proram a total shambles.

No problem Mr. Meaner  :D , in fact, working for myself seems to be working rather well at the moment.  My new boss is me, and he lets me do what I want as long as I'm right in the market.

Make no mistake the market is an obscene, twisted little beyeatch. But I have an Edge.  :P

I do technical analysis and I have a vision of the market.  I've paid the price for this too, having burned $2000 quick in an assinine options play.  But I made the experience pay for me by learning from my mistakes.

Right now, 6 of my 9 speculations are making money, and I'm looking for exit targets.  Of the three that are down, 2 are options that expire in more than a month and have time to make me money.  One will expire next week, and it's paired with another that is up enough to pay for both.

The important thing is I like this better.    much better.  :D  The important thing is for me to find a way to be useful to others, that I find to my likeing.  I'm now proving to myself that I am worthy of other people trusting me with their money.  The last thing I want to do, is hurt anyone else financially. So this proving process is very important to me right now.

If I fail, I have to go back to work like everyone else at a time when jobs are harder and harder to come by. let alone ones that will pay me like I want to be paid.    But I seem to have the temprament and the ability to do this and I like folowing my own dream.  :D

Rickortreat, the Sixers lose some games and drop below .500 ball and you have to go to Mexico and drown your sorrows in Tequila?  Did you eat the worm?

j/k -- glad you made it back!

I'll help you out Reality, but I don't know about CGR.  Yeah, I stunk up my playoff predictions completly.  Not just with Philly but everyone except the Patriots, who I did pick to win it.

NO, Randy I didn't eat the worm, but I did bring a bottle back with me with the worm in it.  And besides, what's up with the Lakers?  They looked sorry when they came to Phila. I know they've had a lot of injuries, but they shoudl have been better than that.
