MADISON, Wis. -- Police in Madison on Friday said University of Wisconsin student Audrey Seiler made up her original abduction story and now says she was abducted from a different location in the city.
Audrey Seiler, 20, of Rockford, Minn., was found safe Wednesday in a marsh about two miles from where she lives. Assistant Police Chief Noble Wray said that during the investigation, inconsistencies arose between her account, witness' accounts and evidence obtained by police.
Wray said that when questioned about inconsistencies, Seiler admitted making up the story, saying she left her apartment early Saturday because she "wanted to be alone." Originally, she said she was kidnapped from her residence.
Wray said Seiler then told them she was abducted by knifepoint by the man portrayed in a sketch released Thursday (pictured) "at a different location in the city."
